3. JOE MUNGAI, CHIEF
EXECUTIVE OFFICER
• Joe worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 10 years
during which he served as a Senior Diplomat in several
Embassies overseas and represented Kenya for 5 years at the
United Nations General Assembly, the United Nations
Economic & Social Council and the United National Security
Council. Thereafter, he worked with the United Nations Human
Settlements Programme (Habitat) for 25 years as a Senior
Manager where he sharpened his knowledge and expertise in
the planning and development of high quality but low-cost
housing. He also served as the Secretary to the World Urban
Forum in Barcelona Spain.
• He holds a BA (Hon) and a Master’s Degree in Economics
(Columbia University , New York) ; Diploma in International
Economics and International Finance (World Bank ,
Washington, DC, USA); Diploma in Foreign Trade (United
Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Addis Ababa);
Carnegie Diploma in Diplomacy and International Relations
(Columbia University, New York); Diploma in United Nations
Rules, Procedures, Organizations and Agencies (United Nations
Headquarters , New York) and an Advanced Diploma in the
French Language (University of Madagascar) . He is a Founder
Member and Vice–Chairman of the Kenya Property Developers'
Association (KPDA), a Member of the Kenya Ministry of
Housing’s Committee on Housing Sector Incentives, and a
Member of the Housing Ministerial Stakeholders’ Forum of
(Kenya Private sector Alliance (KEPSA). In addition to his CEO
responsibilities, for tamarind Investments, Joe also manages
Tamarind Properties, the sales and marketing arm of TI

4. ROBERT DARBY:
DIRECTOR, OPERATIONS
AND PROJECT
MANAGEMENT.
• Robert has had a career in both project and general
management. He has successfully managed multi-million
pound engineering businesses in the UK and has delivered a
number of projects from installing new manufacturing facilities
to moving whole factories. Other projects have included
systems implementation, such as ISO 9000 and ISO 14000. He
is well versed in quality management and lean manufacturing.
He has participated in and delivered training courses in the
latter.
• In Kenya he has focussed on the construction sector. In
addition to managing the TI operations, he is responsible for
the Technical Department. This is a wide ranging role which
includes specific responsibility for creating the project
feasibility studies and leading the project management team.
That role entails ensuring that the projects are delivered
according to the requirements of the feasibility studies i.e. on
time, on budget and to a quality level that exceeds customer
expectation. The total value of our current and past projects is
KShs 6.5 billion.
• Robert is also responsible for researching the latest innovations
in construction and development, including environmental
features, and applying his lean manufacturing experience to
the whole cycle of building development, from project
inception to occupation.

5. ROBERT BUNYI:
DIRECTOR, FINANCE • Robert Holds a degree in Building Economics from the
University of Nairobi. He started his career in the Kenyan stock
market as a research analyst with Equity Stockbrokers. In 2001
he moved to South Africa where he worked with Liquid Africa
and pan-African investment services firm as its head of
research. He was instrumental in the development of its online
trading platform that allowed investors the world over to trade
in any stock market in Africa.
• In 2003 he joined Standard Bank as an economist covering
African economies. He was later promoted to head the Africa
macro-economic research desk from where he lead a team that
advised various bank clients on economic trends on the
continent. In early 2007 he returned to Kenya where he
launched his own advisory firm, Mavuno Capital. Today
Mavuno is advising various clients on their property projects
with a total value of Ksh.10bn.
• Robert is also a Director of the Nairobi Stock Exchange listed
Centum Investments, as well as being the director responsible
for finance within Tamarind Investments. He is involved in the
strategic finance activities of the company and in developing
financial suitable home purchase programmes for our
customers.

6. MOSES MURIITHI:
DIRECTOR,
PROCUREMENT &
MARKETING • Moses Muriithi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
Economics (Hons) from the University of Buckingham (UK) and
a postgraduate diploma in Marketing from Middlesex
University (UK)
• He is an accomplished property developer with a wealth of
experience in commercial and residential properties, as a
director and co-owner in Six Arms Limited, Proxima Properties
Limited and Amalgamated Properties Limited.
He is also an SME venture capitalist with interests in various
fields such as transportation & logistics, insurance, project
financing and other financial services.
• He is also well versed in the aviation industry, having served as
a director and Quality Assurance manager for over 10 years at
the oldest and most profitable ground support services in East
Africa, Kenya Aerotech Limited.
• He is a founder owner of the innovative Oyster Village project,
a prime gated community of 32 apartments and 66
maisonettes and a 25,000 square meter shopping mall.

7. GERALD GITHINJI:
DIRECTOR ,CORPRATE
GOVERNANCE
• Gerald is a Chemical Engineer with experience
in executive positions in the corporate world both in Kenya and
in international blue chip organizations. He previously served
as the Director – Group Supply of East African Breweries on a
full time basis.
• Gerald is responsible for shaping the strategic direction of
Tamarind Investments.
• Gerald’s experience in the construction industry
includes Wolsely, the biggest building materials company in the
UK, and Icopal, the biggest roofing and cladding company in
Scandinavia, based in Denmark.
• Gerald has built deep expertise over 25 years in leading
change in blue chip international assignments.
Gerald specializes in Leadership, Teams and Individual
Development, Organization Development and Restructuring
best practice. He has applied expertise in Lean Business
Processes, Culture Change and World Class Manufacturing.
• Gerald has excellent Business Performance Management and
Consulting experience, covering a broad range of ‘Blue
Chip’ organizations and clients based in the United
Kingdom,Europe and Africa, Latin America, and Asia Pacific
Regions.

8. CHARLES KARANJA:
MEMBER OF THE
MANAGEMENT TEAM
• Charles Karanja is a seasoned and professional banker having
worked for Barclays Bank of Kenya Ltd for 27 years. Between
2000 and 2012 Charles held a number of senior roles within
the retail division in of the bank including branch manager of
Westlands branch after which he was promoted to be Chief
Manager of Queensway branch, the largest Barclays Bank
branch in Africa where he drove profitability through sales and
operational excellence.
• There after he was promoted to Area Manager for Mt. Kenya
Region overseeing 12 branches and over 300 staff. Under his
leadership the region was not only able to surpass its targets
but was able to develop engaged teams and future leaders for
the bank. Consequently in 2006 Charles was appointed as the
Regional Manager Emerging Markets entrusted to drive the
bank’s expansion program. In his tenure he opened over 35
new branches in 2 years majority of which became profitable in
less than a year.
• In 2009 he took on the role of Head of Direct Sales where he
headed a strong direct sales force of over 3000 sales
executives, 200 sales managers and 7 Area Sales managers,
which contributed to 70 percent of the Consumer Banking
sales revenues. In 2010 he was appointed to be Head of Sales a
position that merged direct sales staff with relationship
managers for work place banking into one. He held this
position until February 2014 when he left the bank to join
Proxima and AVLC Group as an Executive Director.
