The Joy of Giving
1. Joy of Giving Why Does It Make Us Feel Good To Give?
byjustjillin | on January 4, 2013
Why does it make us feel good to give? What is the joy of giving?
You hear on occasion, usually around the season just past (Christmas) it is better to give than to
receive. Then there is ZigZiggler who says if you help enough people get what they want you
will get what you want.
What is it about helping others that makes us experience this
joy of giving?
I think it is about getting involved with others
allows us to realize that we are not alone in our
suffering. That there is someone out there that has it
much worse than you do. Perhaps in the working
together you can lift them up and in doing so you feel
a sense of accomplishment. A renewed sense of
“anything is possible”.
Giving isn’t always about money, though studies
have shown that people who give regularly are
wealthier and happier. For some reason letting go
of money to help another stimulates our
endorphins. We get a “rush” of exhilaration. People who experience this joy of giving regularly
are happier.
Giving can be time, attention, and stuff, too. Giving is a way of engaging in the world around
you and with others without expecting anything in return. The act of giving creates a certain
amount of kindness in you. Empathy with others.
When you give you are saying to yourself and to the world that money is not the be all and end
all of what you are about. That you trust God (or what ever) to bring more abundance into your
life. That you are willing to use your resources and talents to benefit others, because after all that
is all that matters when the dust settles on your life.
What did you do? Who did you help? What did you contribute to make the
world a better place for those around you?
Kennedy once said, ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your
country.I say, ask not what others can do for you, but what you can do for them.
2. To you my dear reader I ask, what can I do for you? Do you need money? Do you need friends?
Do you need a relationship with your creator? I have lots of resources together we might find a
way to put you in a position to bless others, that way we can all experience the joy of giving.
