22. Compatibility issues I was working on a document with a number of colleagues who were using the track changes functionality in MS office and I couldn’t see their changes, and worse the wordcount was rapidly increasing due to double counting causing me to worry about a phantom 1000 words or so that disappeared as soon as I loaded the document into word and accepted all changes. On top of this my formatting was disappearing as the file was being saved as .odt, .rtf and .doc files (this also led me to submit an important document that I later learned looked a mess in Word).
Drag multiple cells: Excel need to click the frame to drag a set of cells. Calc can drag the group cell by click anywhere inside the cells, very convenient and easy to do.When ctrl+v paste a group cell where cover the cells have contents, Calc alert, mo not. But when dragging, Excel alert, Calc not. This comes to one small issue of Calc . We know it is easy to drag group of cells in Calc , and it won’t alert you when you overwrite something, some careless ppl may corrupt some data by mistake. Excel Calc Backspace clear left-top cell clear full cell Delete clear full cell popup optionrightclick4. Excel gives a strange floating point series when it can’t identify the series. Calc increase each number by 1 and append, etc.For example 1,4,6,2,7 if drag become 1,4,6,2,7, 2,5,7,3,8, 3,6,8…..etc5. Can use mouse drag the picture file (not picture), into Calc . For Excel , when you drag in, it gives you a pointer says can drag, but actually nothing happen.6. Calc have more farmat to saved as compare to Excel . The key things is that Calc can saved as Excel , but Excel can not saved for Calc . But, some of the format saving by Calc are not work properly. For example some format may saved without language, which means when you open it again, all the words (for example chinesecharactors), are “?” instead.

That is why the open source web browser firefox can become a leader in the market, but open office cannot. At the moment, ms office is the office suite that has the most market share, thus benefiting from the network effect. How to turn the negative situation into positive is what open office has to do.
