    • July 31 st 1965 in Gloucetershire,England
    • Original name is Joanne Kathleen
    • Writing stories since the age of six
    • Joanne Kathleen changed her name to J.K.
    • J.k. became an English teacher at 26
    • During this period she started working on a story of a wizard
  • 3. Biography pt2
    • J.K. was later married in 1989
    • She divorced in 1993
    • After the divorce she continued to work on the story
    • Harry potter was rejected several times
    • Later published in 1998
    • Success of the book led to sequels
    • Harry potter brought in 400 million
    • J.K. made the new york times best sellers list
  • 4. Plot of the book
    • Harry Potter is a orphan wizard, who resides
    • With his aunt ,uncle, and cousin. Harry goes
    • through his life misunderstood by moguls
    • (regular people). One day Harry starts
    • Getting mysterious letters from Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.
    • Harries aunt and uncle try to hide from Harry
    • the fact that he is a wizard. But once Harry’s
    • Destiny takes place he is exposed to great power
    • and responsibility as wizard.
  • 5. Challengers of the book
    • Many people opposed Harry potter.
    • Religious organizations challenged the book
    • the most. Religious people challenged the book due to it’s focus on magic and wizardry, which went against many beliefs of certain religions.
  • 6. My Reaction
    • The Christians opposition to the book is
    • understandable. Some people don’t want their children to be influenced by things of that nature. I am sure J.K. Rowling meant no harm, while writing the story. The Christians nor J.K. Rowling are at fault.
