To stay ahead of the competition you need a service provider that will dig deep into your projects and workflow to identify improvements and ways to reduce costs.
With each recent release, we’re starting to notice a waterfall effect. SOLIDWORKS continues to release so many new modules, we run out of space, and functionality begins to trickle down to the less exclusive packages. This effect helps maintain our ASP.
[CLICK]
In 2015, Sustainability was added to Premium, so CircuitWorks trickled down to Professional. This made room for the brand new Flatten Surface command while the new Model Break View was exclusive to MBD.
[CLICK]
This year, we’re seeing the same effect. FeatureWorks and Utilities are migrating to the Standard package and TolAnalyst and ScanTo3D are migrating to the Professional package. This makes it even more important to emphasize the great value in Premium functionality like the Flatten Surface command. Last year, the Flatten Surface command had some shortcomings. This year, that’s no longer the case and it should be able to help carry the load of Premium’s value proposition.
We can improve your PEOPLE, equip your business with the latest TECHNOLOGY, help you to setup the required PROCESS, and introduce you to new innovative MANUFACTURING techniques.

PRESENTER NOTES:
THIS SLIDE IS YOUR ROADMAP FOR THE PRESENTATION. Note that we aren’t giving away the benefits here, rather at the end of each section.
SOLIDWORKS 2016 – the 24th release – has been built on the theme of “Make Great Design Happen”
PRESENTER:
It is clear; the meaning of Great Design is unique for all. It is also clear that Great Design shares a common foundation – four pillars. Design, Validate, Collaborate, and Build. It is here that SOLIDWORKS 2016 has focused hundreds of enhancements, driven by our users, and focused on what Make Great Design Happen means to every user, every company, everyone in our worldwide community.
Let’s see what SOLIDWORKS 2016 has for you!
PRESENTER NOTES:
The first pillar of the SOLIDWORKS 2016 release – Design – has two overarching points that support the overall message of “Focus on your design, not the software”.
Relentless focus on user experience – ease of use
Uncompromising commitment to modelling power – model anything and everything
PRESENTER NOTES:
- This presentation is meant to scale from a short overview – less than 20 minutes – to a much longer event depending on the level of detail for your audience. This slide highlights the core message on the DESIGN PILLAR. You can use this single slide to present & revisit a few highlights OR you can go through the Design Detail slides to show the supporting functionality.
This is a long section with many items to show. Plan to demo from folder 01 – User Interface through folder 09 – Weldments. Suggested strategy is to use a linking methodology to move through the main topics versus showing 9 demos back to back. For example, UI & Sketching together with a black screen pause to introduce Part Modeling, another pause or to link Assemblies and wrap up with the final 2 topics.
PRESENTER:
A consistent message we hear from our users is that SOLIDWORKS can always be easier to use, commands easier to find, all with greater power, consistency, and support for the latest available technology.
SOLIDWORKS 2016 shows a significant investment in the user experience and a solid foundation on which to build for future enhancements. We are constantly reminded that the core of SOLIDWORKS – from sketching and modeling to assembly creation – is the where our users spend much of their time. Users are constantly pushing to create greater detail and capture a greater understanding of their Designs. Let’s see how SOLIDWORKS 2016 provides our customers with many powerful enhancements that let them quickly create details that were difficult or impossible before; all with great attention to how the user works.
PRESENTER NOTES:
The second pillar of the SOLIDWORKS 2016 release – VALIDATE– points directly at solving the users most complex problems quickly and easily. Also note that Validate includes both traditional FEA topics as well as Plastics and even Surface Flattening in SOLIDWORKS Premium.
PRESENTER:
Great Design requires Validation. SOLIDWORKS 2016 brings our users many examples of solving the most complex physical behaviours of our designs quickly and easily – and with great confidence.
Presenter Notes:
- The new curvature based mesher delivers a more efficient global mesh so that edges in areas not of interest do not have excessive mesh detail reducing overall number of elements and solution time.
- Distributed Simulation allows users with a license of SOLIDWORKS Simulation Professional
or SOLIDWORKS Simulation Premium to take advantage of idle resources of other
networked computers. By launching the distributed Simulation network client, you can
improve performance and the size of simulations to run.
Distributed simulation distributes the equation solving part of the simulation process to
a network of node computers that are connected on the same network domain.
PRESENTER NOTES:
The third pillar of the SOLIDWORKS 2016 release – Collaborate – is an area with significant enhancements in a wide range of topics. It is important that you deliver the entire Collaborate message here and not just the pieces that are inside of SOLIDWORKS 2016 CAD. The PDM Standard and Professional is a critical part of the SOLIDWORKS 2016 message and SOLIDWORKS Electrical is a tremendous growth and competitive offering for our users.
PRESENTER:
We have covered many benefits of SOLIDWORKS 2016 at this point – most involve recapturing time early in the design process. The next element of our presentation, Collaborate, addresses how you can leverage these efficiencies and time savings and effectively bring many others into the design conversation.
PRESENTER NOTES:
- This presentation is meant to scale from a short overview – less than 20 minutes – to a much longer event depending on the level of detail for your audience. This slide highlights the core message on the COLLABORATE PILLAR. You can use this single slide to present & revisit a few highlights OR you can go through the COLLABORATE Detail slides to show the supporting functionality.
This section has presentations on a number of disciplines outside of core SOLIDWORKS CAD. Plan to demo from folder 15 – SOLIDWORKS PDM through folder 20 – Treehouse. Even if you do not do product demonstrations on PDM or SOLIDWORKS Electrical here, please include supporting slides, video, etc. to share these elements with the entire audience.
PRESENTER:
Great design doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Design has become a collaborative endeavour that requires the weigh-in from not just design project teams, but other design disciplines, such as manufacturing, customers, vendors, and many others. All design stakeholder are now integral to Making Great Design Happen.
SOLIDWORKS 2016 focuses on providing users with the Collaboration features that our users are demanding. Streamlining these interactions and moving them forward in the design process is where SOLIDWORKS 2016 has made significant enhancements.
SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard is an easy to use, robust data management tool that uses the same Windows Explorer interface as its big brother. SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard lets you safely manage all of you data in centralized, secure vault so only authorized users can view or make modifications. It is included in the SOLIDWORKS installation manager to make for easy administration and provides a painless upgrade path when a customer’s needs require it.
Demos
In SOLIDWORKS 2015, if someone has an assembly in the local cache or open in SOLIDWORKS and someone else renames or moves a file the user had to manually check the PDM task pane to see if there are any of these warnings identified with the Quick Info icon. If you weren't looking out for this you wouldn’t know that a file was renamed and would be opening the locally cached file. IN 2016, the SOLIDWORKS PDM add-in warns you if another user moves or renames the references preventing out of date references from being used.
PRESENTER NOTES:
The fourth pillar of the SOLIDWORKS 2016 release – Build – is focused on fast-tracking your design to manufacturing.
PRESENTER:
Great Designs get built. The final topic of our presentation focuses on the SOLIDWORKS 2016 enhancements to fast-track your designs to manufacturing.
We can improve your PEOPLE, equip your business with the latest TECHNOLOGY, help you to setup the required PROCESS, and introduce you to new innovative MANUFACTURING techniques.
