    • The capital city of Alberta is Edmonton, but Calgary is a bigger
    • city.
  • 5. Alberta was named after Princess Lousie Caroline. Alberta fourth daughter of Queen Victoria .
  • 6. Provincial fish is the bull trout it lives in the Glacier waters.
  • 7. West Edmonton Mall is home to an exact replica of the Santa Maria .
  • 8. Alberta’s mammal is the Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep.
  • 9. Alberta has about 54,000 square Kilometers of national parks.
  • 10. The Highvale mine is the largest coal mine in Canada.
  • 11. Mount Columbia is 12,294 feet tall .
  • 12. A tree in Jasper National Park is over 700 years old.
  • 13. Alberta’s provincial bird is the great horned owl.
  • 14. Alberta is one of Canada’s biggest oil suppliers. Oil was first struck in Turner Valley in 1914.
  • 15. Millions of bison once roamed Alberta.
    • But now they are mainly found in
    • Super markets, but they can still be
    • found in Wood Buffalo National park.
