  • 2. HISTORY • UNEP HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN GEF WATERS IN THE PILOT PHASE (1991-1994) AND DURING PHASE I AND PHASE II (1994 TO PRESENT).

  • 6. UNEP IN GEF-III UNEP's project portfolio will focus on the following areas in GEF Phase III: Integrated Land and Water Resources Management. UNEP will pilot a mega- regional ecosystem approach to integrated land and water resources management for selected mega-basins.
  • 7. UNEP IN GEF-III Integrated drainage basins and coastal zone management. UNEP will develop a portfolio of projects that are built on the guidelines for Integrated Coastal Area and River Basin Management (ICARM), and linked to it will be
  • 8. UNEP IN GEF-III Formulation of Regional Programmes of Action for Protection of the Marine Environment from LBA. UNEP will develop, in collaboration with the GPA Office, a number of projects to elaborate regional programmes of action for addressing land based activities affecting the integrity of the ecosystem.
