2. FACTS
Greek cinema has been known throughout
the world for its unique thematology. For

European movies are Greek ( Eternity
and a Day, Sweet Bunch, Young

modern Greek cinema can provide: pure
cinematic ‘’adventures’’. The new wave

create new things and they succeed it.

6. MODERN GREEK CINEMA ALL OVER THE WORLD
The New York Times named George Lanthimos the
3rd best director of our time. The Daily News
named Dogtooth as the best foreign film of the
last 20 years. The Guardian, a paper which is
very interested in the modern Greek cinema,
has termed it as the "Greek Weird Wave," which
involves movies with haunting cinematography,
alienated protagonists and absurdist dialogue.
American critics seem to love every movie of
this ‘’wave’’ and one thing is for sure. Modern
Greek Cinema is here to stay.
