1. How to critique a
photo

2. Step 1
• Look at the photo you are going to critique
and pick out what is good about it and what is
bad.

3. Step 2
• Pick out the good qualities and bad qualities of
the photo.

4. Step 3
• Determine the mood of the picture.

5. Step 4
• See if the picture is in focus. There may be
some parts that are meant to be unfocused.

6. Step 5
• Look at the lighting of the picture and see
whether the picture is supposed to be really
light or really dark

7. Step 6
• See what the photographer can approve upon.

8. Step 7
• See what the photographer did well.

9. Example 1
• The picture is too bright.
• The picture is not in focus.
• You can’t see what's in the background

10. Example 2
• The picture is too dark.
• You cant tell what the picture is of

11. Example 3
• The picture has perfect lighting
• It is all in focus
