Empowering girls through education
1. Empowering Girls Through Education
Education is necessary for growth or development of any Nation. Youngest are the builder of a
nation. So that Education is equally necessary for both boys and girls. But it has been seen in
villages that parents only send their boy child to school or colleges not girls. In many parts of
India, the birth of a girl child calls for mourning rather than celebration. Abandoning them at
birth or marrying them off as children is a common practice. Looked upon as huge economic
burdens, it is hardly surprising that many Indian families don't see the point in investing in their
education. Even in villages people killed a girl before her birth.
They think that girls are only a burden for a father because they have to give a lot of dowry in
her marriage so that she should live happy in her in laws home. May be they don’t know that a
Girl is not only a burden but she can do what a boy can do. They can do all this when they are
educated they have knowledge of their surroundings or all over the world. If parents
understand the important of education for their girl child and each and every girl come out
from their home and learn about their surroundings only then the murder rate of girls, rape
cases are decreased.
For educating a girl child many schools are started at villages, many social workers are working
in village so that they can convince parents for educating their girl child. In cities parents are
more aware about girl education. They give freedom to a girl child as much they give a freedom
to boy. Every girl needs such type of freedom so that she can explore herself.
To achieve education for all, it is necessary not only to increase domestic resources for
education but also to rearrange these resources equitably so that a fair share reaches
marginalized groups. More often, however, resources are skewed towards the most privileged.
To shift education spending in favor of the marginalized, some governments have introduced
compensatory funding formula, which allocate more resources to locales, communities or
2. schools that are in need of greater support, such as local populations. This can help overcome
educational deprivation and socio-economic inequality.
Girls are the futures of a Nation. And if they are not educated then no Nation can grow itself or
build. It is important to empowering the rights of girl child. Successful education of the girl
child is an effective mechanism to break the intergenerational cycle of myths, poverty, social
norms and social evils. Research has shown that a literate woman population is allied to
reduction in population growth rates. But illiteracy, breeds ignorance and fear and only
increases her susceptibility to be exposed to lifelong abuse and exploitation.
