LETTER FROM THE
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Here we are once again at THE fall fashion event of the
year…Phoenix Fashion Week at Talking Stick Resort. Each
and every season I get so excited to share our fast growing
brand with the 1,000’s of fashionistas attending our week
long calendar of Fashion, Education and Humanity. But,
like clockwork each and every season…we also get so many
questions like, why do we do this, how do we do this, and
what is our end goal? Well…
Our mission is to Push Arizona Fashion Forward! But, what
exactly does that mean? It means that since the beginning,
Team Phoenix Fashion Week set the bar high within the
Arizona fashion industry and we have been raising that
same bar every season since 2008. We began as a one-day
celebration that has grown into a sustainable year-round
fashion business producing (12) different fashion events in
(12) different locations around Arizona.
How Did We Do It? We clearly defined who we were and
who we were not. We were definitely about the ‘Business
of Fashion’ first and foremost. We definitely were not going
to listen to the naysayers. We are clearly about helping
emerging designers build sustainable and successful fashion
brands. We clearly were never going to give up. We were
100% about improving on our mistakes and we were never
afraid to try again. In other words, our common sense
approach and relentless
work ethic forged our way
to becoming the leading
fashion industry event in
the Southwest.
Your Best or Nothing!
Brand partner Mercedes
Benz inspired this kind of thinking amongst our team. It is true,
when you really know who you are and when you give your
best effort day in and day out in the pursuit of your goals, you
naturally push everything and everyone around you forward.
This is the ‘secret to our sauce.’
That mindset and high bar expectation is why we believe we
have (7 Arizona brands) of the (13) emerging designers
competing for ‘2014 Designer of the Year’ compared to only
(2) Arizona based designers last year. The tide is turning,
Arizona is rapidly moving fashion forward.
So, where does that leave us? It leaves us with an amazing and
accomplished team supported by strong global partners that
include Schumacher European LTD. Mercedes Benz, Boots
USA, TONI&GUY, Walgreens, UBER, OfficeMax, FIDM, just
to name a few. Not bad for a brand that began as a one-day
celebration. Come join us!

Presented by Bad Water Brewing, the Accessory

accessory designers again this year to design a unique
accessory that not only embodies the Bad Water
Brewing brand, but also the tightly knit, creative craft
beer community. After much anticipation, Adriana
Soto of Verbena Jewelry was named the challenge

“I find myself extremely honored to collaborate with
Phoenix Fashion Week and the Bad Water Brewing
team in the Accessory Designer Challenge. My
inspiration came from the style and originality of
Bad Water. They have something different that truly
makes them unique among other beers, and this is why
I created an accessory that can stand on its own and

FEATURED DESIGNERS
ROCKY GATHERCOLE ALBERT ANDRADA ARIS PICO YEN
Each year, Phoenix Fashion Week
selects a diverse list of established
fashion brands from around the globe
to showcase their latest collections
here in the desert.
After last year’s memorable 30-piece
finale show by celebrity designer
Rocky Gathercole, Phoenix Fashion
Week plans to push the fashion
envelope one step further with not
one, but four designers.
“Each year at Phoenix Fashion
Week, we push to raise the bar of
collections, from ready to wear to
couture. It speaks volumes about our
production quality, and our unique
cross-section of media, buyers and
fashionistas that collectively help to
push Arizona fashion forward. Quite
simply, PHXFW is becoming a mecca
for global fashion brands,” said Brian
Hill, Executive Director of Phoenix
Fashion Week.
These designers add to a strong lineup
of established collections at Phoenix
Fashion Week at Talking Stick Resort and
make their dramatic debuts, with local
fashionistas, tastemakers and attendees
alike abuzz with anticipation.
Albert Andrada: This designer defines
his collections as ‘cultured couture
eveningwear’ and is a true visionary
in the fashion industry. He recently
partnered with well-known brand Ethan
Allen to design luxury furnishings and
has also dressed numerous celebrities on
the red carpet, including Paris Hilton’s
stunning white gown for The Grammy’s.
Albert Andrada’s collection will debut at
Phoenix Fashion Week at Talking Stick
Resort on Thursday, October 2nd.
Aris Pico: Known for futuristic feminine
fashions, Aris Pico is a newer name to the
global fashion industry, but has already
made a memorable first impression for
his brand in the Philippines, debuting
his S/S 2013 collection at Philippine
Fashion Week to rave reviews. Don’t
miss his collection as a part of two
impressive finale designers closing out
Friday, October 3rd of Phoenix Fashion
Week at Talking Stick Resort.
Yen: Elite luxury couture fashions
perfectly describes the sheer artistry
of Yen’s designs. He recently showed
his collection at London Fashion Week
in 2014 and will bring his one-of-a-kind
garments to the Phoenix Fashion
Week at Talking Stick Resort runway on
Friday, October 3rd.
Rocky Gathercole: As Phoenix Fashion
Week’s memorable finale designer
in 2013 and a favorite of celebrities
including Katy Perry, he is returning for
another jaw-dropping collection that
gives the term ‘runway presentation’
an entirely new meaning. Watch his
designs close out another amazing year
on Saturday, October 4th.

Phoenix Fashion Week invited Arizona fashion designers to submit their
best little black dress sketches as a part of the 3rd Annual Little Black Dress

“The Art Institute of Phoenix is proud to sponsor this year’s Little Black Dress
Challenge. We are committed to fostering the development of a professional
fashion community that serves our students and the community at large by
supporting Phoenix Fashion Week,” said Katy Hansen, Fashion Program

T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST
$1,000 FASHION DESIGN SCHOLARSHIP
PRESENTED BY:
Phoenix Fashion Week’s 4th Annual ‘Inspire Fashion’ T-shirt Design Contest, presented by Cabana
Modern Apartment Homes, received an impressive roster of design submissions from fashion
students around Arizona. Ultimately, the winner was chosen.
Phoenix Fashion Week and Cabana Modern
Apartment Homes are proud to award Mesa
Community College 2nd year Fashion Merchandising
student Anh Huynh-Nguyen as the winner of the
Inspire Fashion T-Shirt Design Contest!
“My inspiration was derived from seeing a tattoo that
said, ‘free as a bird’. The dress is meant to express the
idea that color is life and mixed with fashion, brings
freedom. I was lucky to see the flyer at my school only a few days
prior to the deadline. I never thought that I would be the winner
of Phoenix Fashion Week’s T-shirt Design Contest! I am very
honored,” said Huynh-Nguyen.
After the best-selling t-shirt design by last year’s winner, Emery
Guzman, Phoenix Fashion Week was elated to see what fresh ideas
Arizona’s talented crop of fashion students would bring to the table.
“What’s exciting about a student challenge like this is that the
designer is going to go through in real time the steps to take a design
from inception to market,” said Brian Hill, Executive Director of
Phoenix Fashion Week.
Anh’s winning sketch will be produced by Phoenix Fashion Week,
displayed and sold exclusively in the Style Villa Marketplace,
powered by T-Mobile October 2-4. As the ‘Inspire Fashion’ T-shirt
Design Contest winner, Anh will also be recognized at Phoenix
Fashion Week and will receive a $1,000 fashion scholarship to
further her education.

Phoenix Fashion Week has partnered with top beauty brands Boots

conjunction with the partnership, male and female ‘Model of the Year’
winners will be named and will receive modeling contracts with The

TONIGUY, the Official Hair Partner of Phoenix Fashion Week

Numerous success stories have stemmed from Phoenix Fashion Week’s
‘Model of the Year’ competition, including 2012 ‘Model of the Year’

Following an impressive turnout at the Model of the Year in June,

40. These male and female models have been competing in various
challenges to strengthen their skills and prepare them for industry
success, including:

CHALLENGE #1: HEADSHOT – Our Top 40 models were trans-formed
with dramatic new looks at the Model Makeover Event hosted
by TONIGUY Scottsdale, before working their angles for the best

walked the runway at Shop Garment District in August.
CHALLENGE #3: PRINT CAMPAIGN – These Top 40 models
brought the Mercedes Benz luxury lifestyle and Boots beauty brand to
life with various inspired photo shoots at impressive locations around
Arizona, including the Schumacher European Ltd. North Scottsdale

of the most life changing meetings a model may experience is an in-terview

Phoenix Fashion Week partnered with long-time supporter
The Agency Arizona to stage mock interviews for each Top 40 model,
where they will be evaluated for their professionalism. portfolio and

-Julie Ott | Community and Educational Affairs | FIDM
TONIGUY is an Interna-tional
Brand and involved
with Fashion Weeks in all the
major markets, but we love
Phoenix Fashion Week
because it's unique in its
approach. Partnering with
Phoenix Fashion Week has
been one of the most excit-ing
at PHXFW!
events in my 25 years as a Hairdresser. Thank You
Brian and team for your Commitment to Excellence and
making Phoenix Fashion Week a World Class Event.
- Gerry Watkins | TONIGUY
We are pleased to partner
with Phoenix Fashion Week
for the second consecutive
year on behalf of our clients,
Boots and Walgreens. Since
launching in Phoenix-area
Walgreens stores last year,
the well-known British
beauty brand has quickly
become a local favorite. Being the official cosmetics and
skincare sponsor of Phoenix Fashion Week provides
valuable brand exposure by allowing guests to experience
Boots products first-hand.
- Jennifer Adler | Public Relations Group Director |
LaneTerralever
“The opportunity to host for Phoenix Fashion Week has been a challenging yet incredibly
rewarding experience. I'd like to thank Phoenix Fashion Week. Everyone works extremely
hard, and I always look forward to working with such an amazing crew!
- Hanna Tucker | Host, Phoenix Fashion Week TV
“Divaz Boutique and Grand
Central Clothing are proud
and excited to support Phoe-nix
Fashion Week. It is an
important platform for
emerging designers to show-case
and build their brands.
With many boutique owners
in the audience, the design-
FIDM is proud to be the
official presenting sponsor of
the Business of Fashion
Seminar Series. We wholly
support the goal of bringing
fashion, business and educa-tion
together into one fabu-lous
venue. As a bonus, the
partnership provides the
Schumacher European

part of Phoenix Fashion

new Mercedes-Benz models
this fall and the Mercedes-

a great opportunity to a part
of something extraordinary!

DJ JOSH QUINTERO DJ JEN JONES
DJ Josh Quintero has been in the business of mixing music for
over 12 years and holds current residences as a DJ at numerous
local hot spots, including Blue Martini. As a standout talent and
supporter at numerous Phoenix Fashion Week events over the
last 6 years, Josh will be featured at the Official Afterparty, on
Saturday, October 4th, keeping the energy going and spinning
stylish sounds before Phoenix Fashion Week officially crowns
their male and female ‘Model of the Year’ winners.
RICO DELARGO YASMEEN
International recording artist Yasmeen will be one to watch
in 2015 according to MTV UK. With her moody-pop records,
Huffington Post UK states “when it comes to her songs, Yasmeen
displays an honesty few artists seem to want to display nowadays.”
Stay up to date with her journey at www.yasmeenonline.com, and
watch her perform live in the Phoenix Fashion Week at Talking
Stick Resort Style Villa Marketplace, powered by T-Mobile.
Rico DeLargo has been playing
trumpet alongside DJs at some
of the top nightlife destinations
in Miami, Las Vegas, Hollywood
and beyond since the sound
of electronic music started
taking over the mainstream.
He received his master’s degree
in Music from the University
of Miami and gives back to
communities he performs in
by speaking about passion,
work ethic and music in public
schools. Watch Rico bring his
unique sound to the runway
at the 2014 Fashionably Pink
Charity Fashion Show, hosted
at the Schumacher European
Limited Showroom.
Australian born DJ Jen
Jones was born with
music in her blood and
after moving to America
at age 21, she has taken the
DJ world by storm. DJ Jen
Jones is set to make her
Phoenix Fashion Week
debut at the Fashionably
Pink Charity Fashion
Show, spinning sounds
in her trademark pink
to the red carpet crowd
before breast cancer

Phoenix Fashion Week 2014 Digital Program

  • 1.
  • 2. LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Here we are once again at THE fall fashion event of the year…Phoenix Fashion Week at Talking Stick Resort. Each and every season I get so excited to share our fast growing brand with the 1,000’s of fashionistas attending our week long calendar of Fashion, Education and Humanity. But, like clockwork each and every season…we also get so many questions like, why do we do this, how do we do this, and what is our end goal? Well… Our mission is to Push Arizona Fashion Forward! But, what exactly does that mean? It means that since the beginning, Team Phoenix Fashion Week set the bar high within the Arizona fashion industry and we have been raising that same bar every season since 2008. We began as a one-day celebration that has grown into a sustainable year-round fashion business producing (12) different fashion events in (12) different locations around Arizona. How Did We Do It? We clearly defined who we were and who we were not. We were definitely about the ‘Business of Fashion’ first and foremost. We definitely were not going to listen to the naysayers. We are clearly about helping emerging designers build sustainable and successful fashion brands. We clearly were never going to give up. We were 100% about improving on our mistakes and we were never afraid to try again. In other words, our common sense approach and relentless work ethic forged our way to becoming the leading fashion industry event in the Southwest. Your Best or Nothing! Brand partner Mercedes Benz inspired this kind of thinking amongst our team. It is true, when you really know who you are and when you give your best effort day in and day out in the pursuit of your goals, you naturally push everything and everyone around you forward. This is the ‘secret to our sauce.’ That mindset and high bar expectation is why we believe we have (7 Arizona brands) of the (13) emerging designers competing for ‘2014 Designer of the Year’ compared to only (2) Arizona based designers last year. The tide is turning, Arizona is rapidly moving fashion forward. So, where does that leave us? It leaves us with an amazing and accomplished team supported by strong global partners that include Schumacher European LTD. Mercedes Benz, Boots USA, TONI&GUY, Walgreens, UBER, OfficeMax, FIDM, just to name a few. Not bad for a brand that began as a one-day celebration. Come join us! –Brian Hill, Executive Director of Phoenix Fashion Week EXECUTIVE BOARD Percy Knox Advisor Hermann Plank Advisor Chris Detert Advisor Russell Goldstein Advisor Liz Riley Education Melissa Rein Public Relations Brenna Moses Operations Lauren Pfingstag Media Christina Ziegler Operations Abbei Brown Designers & Buyers Dynelle Rodriguez Style 2

FEATURED DESIGNERS ROCKY GATHERCOLE ALBERT ANDRADA ARIS PICO YEN Each year, Phoenix Fashion Week selects a diverse list of established fashion brands from around the globe to showcase their latest collections here in the desert. T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST $1,000 FASHION DESIGN SCHOLARSHIP PRESENTED BY: Phoenix Fashion Week’s 4th Annual ‘Inspire Fashion’ T-shirt Design Contest, presented by Cabana Modern Apartment Homes, received an impressive roster of design submissions from fashion students around Arizona. Ultimately, the winner was chosen. Phoenix Fashion Week and Cabana Modern Apartment Homes are proud to award Mesa Community College 2nd year Fashion Merchandising student Anh Huynh-Nguyen as the winner of the Inspire Fashion T-Shirt Design Contest! “My inspiration was derived from seeing a tattoo that said, ‘free as a bird’. The dress is meant to express the idea that color is life and mixed with fashion, brings freedom. I was lucky to see the flyer at my school only a few days prior to the deadline. I never thought that I would be the winner of Phoenix Fashion Week’s T-shirt Design Contest! I am very honored,” said Huynh-Nguyen. After the best-selling t-shirt design by last year’s winner, Emery Guzman, Phoenix Fashion Week was elated to see what fresh ideas Arizona’s talented crop of fashion students would bring to the table. “What’s exciting about a student challenge like this is that the designer is going to go through in real time the steps to take a design from inception to market,” said Brian Hill, Executive Director of Phoenix Fashion Week. Anh’s winning sketch will be produced by Phoenix Fashion Week, displayed and sold exclusively in the Style Villa Marketplace, powered by T-Mobile October 2-4. As the ‘Inspire Fashion’ T-shirt Design Contest winner, Anh will also be recognized at Phoenix Fashion Week and will receive a $1,000 fashion scholarship to further her education.
