3. The history of Zendium dates back to 1969, when Henk
Hoogendoorn (a quality control manager at Dutch chemicals
company AKZO) was attending a conference on caries.
Following the conference the microbiologist had the brilliant
idea to clean teeth and remove the organic adhesive layer with
the aid of an enzyme. With the support of his company, Henk
Hoogendoorn formed a research department to further optimize
his formula. The research was later intensified in collaboration
with the University of Nijmegen.
After years of development, the formula was successfully tested
by clinical research and finally in 1979 the first Zendium
toothpaste was introduced in the Netherlands.
In 1987, AKZO’s consumer products division Kortman was sold
to Sara Lee Douwe Egberts. Zendium therefore became part of
the personal care division of Sara Lee and under the wings of
this new parent Zendium expanded its business to other
countries in Europe such as Belgium, Italy, Czech Republic,
Croatia, Hungary, France, Germany and Scandinavia and the
Middle East.
In 2009, part of Sara Lee Household and Personal Care
division was sold to Unilever including the Zendium brand.

Zendium is the first toothpaste that cleans the teeth just as

7. Protects the milk teeth
Because the enamel of milk teeth is not as strong as adult

11. A recent test conducted among 235 women using
Zendium Classic Toothpaste has shown that 85% are
