  • 2. DEFINITION OF FILTRATIONThe settled water then goes through filters where the fineparticles and bacteria are trapped. The clean water then goesto the clear water tank. The filters are back washed regularlythrough a combination of agitation by air and water to ensureefficient operations.
  • 3. TYPES OF FILTERS USED ARE:1. Slow Sand Filters
  • 4. 2. Rapid Sand Filter
  • 5. 3. Filter Pressure - Vertical Or Horizontal
  • 6. Mixture Of Chemical : FLUORIDE Fluoride is the process of adding fluoridecontent in the treated water at acceptable levels. The aim is to prevent disease and tooth decay.The chemicals used are sodium silicon fluorideallowable dose rate between 0.6 - 0.8 mg / liter.
  • 7. DISINFECTION (Chlorine) Disinfection is a process that still kills germs found inthe water that has been filtered. There are many methods to kill bacteria, among whichare the use of ozone, ultra-violet rays and chlorine. Normally the use of chlorine used to have a low price,easy and able to be handled and measured disinfectionin the distribution system.
