concerning groundwater resources:
Group 1. Transboundary river problems, associated
with qualitative and quantitative condition of
groundwater within the transboundary river basin.
Group 2. Transboundary groundwater problems,
associated with quality and quantity of
groundwater.

3. Group 2. Transboundary groundwater problems,
associated with quality and quantity of
groundwater.
The problem is associated with reduction of
resources of groundwater due to water use or any
other activities occurring in the adjacent territory,
or with filtration of polluted groundwater through
the state border to the adjacent territory.
In this case, the methods of integrated
management of groundwater resources attain a
certain transboundary specificity.

4. Criteria for risk of occurrence of the transboundary problems,
mentioning underground water objects
Categories Category characteristic
1 Risk of occurrence of transboundary problems practically is absent
2 Occurrence of transboundary problems is possible at an intensification
of abstraction of groundwater or advancement of the plume of the
polluted groundwater from the territory of the adjacent state
3 The transboundary problem inevitably will arise at economic
development of groundwater well-fields and demands the preliminary
coordination of all aspects of groundwater use prior to the beginning
of well-field's development
4 The transboundary problem exists and demands the joint decision
from both states – Pretashkent aquifer
