It isimportantfor a teacherto be a part of the decisionsmade abouttechnological equipmentand
programsimplementedwithintheirclassroomatleastasmuch as havinga small influence onwhatis
purchased. Each teachergoesabouttheirmethodsslightlydifferentlyandinorderto have forward
thinkingtechnological teaching,ideasshouldcome fromthe students,teachers,andhigherup
administration. If a teacherisgivenequipmentinaclassroomthathe or she doesnotknow how to use,
not onlyisita waste of moneybutit isa waste of a resource. These problemscanbe resolvedby
educatingteachersaboutuseful teachingtechnologies. There are several typesof hardware thatcanbe
purchasedandplacedina classroombutwe do not wantthemto lay dormant because eithertheyare
difficulttouse,theydonotworkcorrectly,are outdated,orare irrelevanttothe curriculum. If a teacher
isnot consultedonwhattheythinkmaybe the besttechnological equipmentfortheirclassroomthe
wrongtools couldbe purchased. It isalso importantforthe teachersto be knowledgeable aboutthe
technologyinordertoeffectivelyuse itforeducationalpurposesandtopass ontheirknowledge tothe
students. For instance,Ichose to desktopcomputersanda projectorfora kindergartenclassroom
setting. Atthisage,it isimportantto getorientedwithcomputersandunderstandhow theyworkand
howto use themresponsiblyseeingastheywill mostlikelybe alarge partof theirlivesinthisdayand
age. I chose to gettwodesktopcomputersbecause itiseasiertouse the separate mouse andkeyboard
while havingalargerdisplay. The projectorwill allow the otherchildrentosee andunderstandwhat
whoeverisdoingonthe computerona largerscale so that everyone neednotbe crowdedarounda
desktop. Thisallowsforfull classparticipationratherthanone at a time computeruse withthe limited
budgetprovided. Iallowedforseveral differenttypesof learningtotake place withthese technologies
and if I had noideahowto use themor hadno say inwhat theywere,Iwouldperhapsnotbe able to
effectivelyteachwiththem.
