When it comes to the use of technology in classrooms, teachers need to be educated and effective at a wide variety of these tools. A teacher cannot expect his/her students to learn/understand how to use technology if they themselves do not know how to use it. By creating an environment that requires teachers to be educated on all the technology that may enter the classroom, students will be able to learn from these teachers the best and most effective technological skills available to them. Also, if teachers did not know how to use a specific technological tool, they would not be able to offer help, give advice or even troubleshoot with the student(s). It is far more effective, overall, to have teachers that are able to teach a concept than to have an ill-equipped teacher in a classroom where students have to fend for themselves and self-teach these concepts as they go. Teachers should be able to be a part of the decision making when it comes to how the money will be spent on things such as technology in their classrooms. Teachers know what is needed and what is best for his/her students, because of this, teachers should have voice when it comes to making decisions about what will be purchased for students’ use. Also, because these teachers are well trained they in technological matters, they will know what are the best brands, tools, versions, etc. for each item and will possibly save the school money because of their expertise in that area.
