living with genital warts – a problem shared
Living with genital warts can be complicated. There are many people worried about their romantic life, how to tell potential partners, what it would mean
for potential relationships and more. One of the most common messages online is that “you should try to avoid HPV.” While that might be solid advice, it
does not help those already infected with the virus. Living with genital warts might be a challenge, but it is certainly possible.
One of the first things to consider when it comes to living with genital warts is that you are not the only person struggling with this issue. Most sexually
active men and women have already been exposed to or have had HPV. They may not be aware of it, but they have. Some studies suggest percentages
as high as 60 and 80 percent of sexually active men and women are exposed to at least one strain.
living with genital warts – do women have the edge
Remember that not everyone experiences problems with HPV, but some do. Some men and women develop genital warts, while the cervical changes in
women, because of HPV, may show up in abnormal Pap smear tests. Fortunately, the body’s natural immune system will often fight the viral infection. This
means that women who have these cervical changes do not develop cervical cancer. Those people with visible warts will have fewer outbreaks of genital
warts, and fewer genital warts over time.
Keep in mind that researchers have identified 100 different HPV strains – only a handful of these are linked to the
development of genital warts. HPV can also be frustrating for women who are into men and homosexual men. As of this
writing, there is no available standard HPV testing for men. This leads to many men thinking that they do not have HPV
when they might, it just cannot be tested for accurately.

living with genital warts – kiss and tell
When it comes to living with genital warts, one of the most stressful things for most people is having to tell future potential partners about genital warts.
Keep in mind that education is important. Just because they are not diagnosed with HPV does not mean they are not a carrier or that they would not be
able to get it.
Aside from it being sexually responsible to tell your future partners about genital warts, you may also want to tell past and present partners. This gives
them a chance to be aware of the fact that they may also be carriers.
Remember that while condoms may offer some protection against HPV transmission,
they are not guaranteed to be effective. Because skin-to-skin contact spreads HPV, it
may still infect any skin that the condom does not cover. When it comes to living with
genital warts, the best thing to do is realize that you can always be a potential carrier
and let those you may be intimate with know.
kiss or kiss off
Researchers are working on better HPV testing methods for men, which can possibly
increase the dialogue about living with genital warts between men and women and
homosexual men. While it may seem intimidating to discuss genital warts with a
prospective partner, remember that you are not alone when it comes to dealing with
this issue. Also, keep in mind that living with genital warts does not mean that you are
