3. IN PRACTICE
In practice the program is implemented by combining health, product
development and business knowledge in multidisciplinary teams. The teams
consist of students, teachers, companies and professionals while the flexible
monitor team gives those guidelines and resources. The individual teams work
separately on every user environment or ’playfield’ how we call them

5. BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES Grow the target groups wider for Business relevance
The clientele is quite low, if the game is designed only for CRPS-in rehabilitation.
As a result, we have expanded the gaming experience to suit wider audiences: i.e. the rehabilitation of the hand fracture patients and stroke patients.
6. IN THE FUTURE

7. Introduction
Health ProPeli (translation: progame) –program started in Eastern Finland 2013 and is part of The Tekes Skene Program.
Aim of the Health ProPeli -program is to study the use of gaming technologies, digital- and physical innovations and gamification in health care, functional capacity and rehabilitation.
Game mechanics could help people to get motivation for preventive healthcare, managing their own treatment and getting better results in general.
The study is reseached on 6 different ’playfields’consisting of rehabilitation centers, a hospital, a school for children with special needs and many others
8. Kuopio Hospital of University and targeting CPRS patients
CRPS letters stand for the English words for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. State of pain (the pain experience) will arise as a result of an injury or a scratch in either the upper or lower limbs. The injury can be very small. State of pain will be divided into two types; Type I is has no nerve damages and Type II has nerve damages.
The treatment is based on the co-operation of a pain doctor, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist and a psychologist. Psychological methods are used to help the patient manage the pain better. Treatments are painful limb posture exercises and identification of mirror therapy, where a painful and poorly functioning limb is used to support the pursuit of a healthy limb mirror image.
An existing game-like solution has been a crude digital translation of a set of cards displaying hands in different postures.
CASE EXAMPLE
9. OUR SOLUTION Games and game-like methods developed on KYS playfield
In the study the games gave possibilities to use hands (upper limbs) for moving or pointing things.
Specially developed touch screen games and game controllers such as Leapmotion were tested and compared to the traditional mirror therapy.
A set of mini games was designed to match different kinds of treatments and different pain levels.
As a result the responsiveness of games and the multisensory video exercises motivated the patients to stand the pain better.
