Colonial Conflict with Britain In the middle of the 18th century France had conflicts with Britain which led to the destruction of the first French Empire Some of the wars that took place included; War of the Austrian Succession, Seven Years War, and also American Revolution From the 1770’s to the 1800’s Britain took India and almost all of Canada from France France sold Louisiana to Spain and lost the west Indies to Britain
3. In 1791 on Saint Domingue, France’s richest and most important had a revolt when the slaves fought back against the French Because of the revolt in 1804 Haiti gained back their independence In 1800 France bought Louisiana back but then sold it to the U.S. in 1803
