During Cloud and Enterprise Workshop event at Microsoft Malaysia office, i've talked about definition of Hybrid Cloud, entire System Center Suite to manage private and public cloud, Storsimple and Azure Site Recovery.

How do we handle dynamically changing workloads?
As System Center notices that the workloads upon a particular hypervisor pass a threshold, they will automatically adjust the VM distribution to better handle the current load, and as we all know, this load will change depending on many factors (time of day/month, popularity of the application, seasonality, etc.) and you need to adjust the workloads throughout the day, and you don’t want to have to sit there and watch it all the time.

With Dynamic Optimization enabled, the IT Admin also has the option to enable, on a schedule, Power Optimization, which, as the diagram shows, when the resource utilization of the hosts drops below the optimization threshold, VMM will move the VMs onto fewer hosts, freeing up hosts that can then be powered down. These hosts should be managed via the BMC, so that VMM can orchestrate their awakening upon either an increased resource usage, or at a scheduled time when Power Optimization should no longer be in operation.
