A large part of my time is spent evaluating existing websites and creating new ones for
my clients, and I am proud of the fact that I know what it takes to create an exceptional
web presence for them. So when I come across a business that uses a boring, generic
template for their website, I cringe and wonder if they even know what this says about
their company. To me, a template website screams one thing loud and clear…
“I don’t place much value on this website. I know you won’t read it, so why bother.”
If you are one of the few who still do not think the Internet marketing is critical to your
success, think again. Answer this question for me:
What is the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do at night?
For millions of Americans, the answer is “I go online.”
In surveys conducted by the Pew Project for Excellence in Journalism, 34% of respondents said they had read news
online within the past 24 hours (as opposed to 31% who favored newspapers); and a full 41% said they get most of
their news online, 10% more than those who said they got most of their news from a newspaper. What does that
tell you about the return on investment you’ll receive from that ad you just placed in the local paper?
In the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project conducted between August 9 and September 12,
2010 it was found that 58% of adults have done research online about the products and services they buy, and
about 24% have posted comments or reviews online. How confident are you that those online reviews about
your business, potentially read by millions, are favorable?
With the increased power and popularity of the Internet as a source for news, product information, and social
networking comes a new challenge for the private practice owner…how to make their web presence stand out
from the crowd. That process begins with a willingness to invest in your online presence and ends with the
understanding that your website is a reflection of who you are. Strive to make your website the premier resource
about hearing health within your community and you should tell that story in a compelling and distinctive way.
