Welcome to this, the first OpenAthens Customer Conference.I am Mike Brooksbank the Executive director of OpenAthens - otherwise called the Identity and Access Management division of Eduserv.I am here to welcome you to the conference – so welcome and thank you all for giving up a very busy day to be with us.
Firstly, the overall theme of this conference is ‘Creating Connections’ – and by this we mean that:
1. we would like you to feel more connected to us a one of your technology partners.
2. you get a chance to build relationships with our staff , others customers and some of our partners/suppliers.
3. In addition, creating connections is about helping you to get even more from OpenAthens so you can fully engage your end users and connect them to the best resources. This event is for both sides of our customer based – organisations such as universities, hospitals, companies – and the publishers who provide all the amazing content that we all want our users to easily access.
4. One of our strategic goals is to help create stronger connections between organisations and publishers for the benefit of end users – this event is key in delivering this vision.
So Let’s look at the make-up of the day:

We are lucky to have two guests speakers. Tracy Gardner, Tracy is from Simon Inger Consulting. Ken Chad a well known consultant and industry watcher in our sector. Thank you both for your time.

Roundtables we hope will stimulate debate If you have any questions from the day, we have a panel debate with the IAM Board. But do ask questions all throughout the day.

Very exciting times at Eduserv – new CEO
Jude brings an exceptional range of expertise to Eduserv and will take the reins on 30 August 2016. Jude takes over from Stephen Butcher, who has led Eduserv since 2002.
Prior to joining us, Jude was Chief Operating Officer with Shaw Trust, a national provider of a range of public services. Earlier in his career, Jude held an international post with Orange and taught international business and strategy at the University of the West of England.
Jude is an alumnus of both the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid (MBA, 2004) and the Harvard Business School (AMP, 2014).

I now have a chance to introduce two members of the OpenAthens Executive:

Strategy for our software and service development is driven to deliver innovative, market led solutions for our expanding customer base. That means we listen to you, and we try and implement what you need to make both the library, end-user and publisher experience the best it can be.
