Travel Insurance For Expats

One of the challenges of moving to a new country is that all of a sudden your preferred online
sites are no longer able to service you. This is particularly true of travel policies because as
an Expatriate your preferred supplier may have sales restrictions that prevents them from
selling in your new country of residence. This is because countries legislations and
restrictions on financial services that can be sold in their country, and the related costs and
red-tape can be crippling.

Most travel insurance policies tend to be country or even region specific so if you are a non-
resident living in another country, it is unlikely that your regular company will be able to cover
you. This is especially true for British Expats because most UK insurance providers don't sell
outside the UK.
Google
Most expats don't think they require travel cover when returning home for holidays because
they think they are covered by the government provided healthcare in the event they require
medical treatment. And they would be very wrong, because as a non-resident you are no
longer entitled to it. A good example are the British Expats because they are not entitled to
the National Health Services as soon as they move to another country. It always makes good
sense to purchase travel insurance anyway because of the broad range of critical protection
it provides travellers.

What you need is Travel Insurance For Expats that has Global Salability and:

• Provides WorldWide Cover
• Covers Domestic Travel most expatriates like to travel around their new country of
  residence.
• Has Annual Travel Insurance to cover multiple trips.
• Provides Medical Insurance For Trips back to the country of origin.
• Are willing to transfer your Annual Multi Trip Cover to a new coutry of residence in case you
  move or get transferred again.
• Has acceptability with embassies and consulates as countries are increasing insisting on
travel medical insurance for visa issuance.
• Has cover for families, especially for the multi trip policy.

Another important factor to take into consideration when buying a travel insurance policy is
the range of activities it covers, otherwise you can end up buying additional policies to cover
those activities. Most insurance companies don't publish the activities they cover so the best
way to check this is to list the activities you and/or your family likes to do when on holiday
and then ask the your insurance provider. Always read and understand your policy
document.
