What Instruments Do We Use To Measure Weather? What Are The Instruments Telling Us?
A Thermometer Is Used To Measure the Temperature. Thermometers Indicate How Hot or Cold it is Outside. Some Like it Hot…
A Barometer is Used To Measure Atmospheric Pressure. Atmospheric Pressure is the pressure exerted by the earth's atmosphere at any given point. It is the product of the mass (M) of the atmospheric column of the unit area above the given point and of the gravitational acceleration (G)at the given point. A Barometer indicates whether or not it will rain. SO: (M) X (G) = Atmospheric Pressure Is it Raining Cats or Dogs?
An Anemometer is Used to Measure Wind Speed. Anemometers Indicate How Much Movement of Wind is Present. This Really Blows
A Windsock is Used to Measure Wind Direction. Windsocks Indicate the Direction that Wind Originates From. Which Way Did He GO George?
A Hygrometer is Used to Measure Humidity. Hygrometers Measure the Amount of Water Vapor in the Air. The formula for calculating Humidity is as Follows: The ratio of the amount of water in the air (in grams)(P)/ the amount of water that would saturate the air (in grams) (S). SO: (P)/(S)= Humidity High Humidity Indicates Warmer Temperatures, While Low Humidity Indicates Cooler Temperatures. Warm Moist Air/Cool Dry Air
A Rain-Gauge is Used to Measure the Amount of Precipitation. Rain-Gauges Indicate the Amount of Precipitation that is Released by the Atmosphere. Precipitationoccurs when a local portion of the atmosphere becomes saturated with water vapor and the water condenses. The main forms of precipitation include drizzle, rain, sleet, snow, and hail. Have you ever seen the Rain?
A Cloud Mirror is Used to Measure the Percentage of Cloud Cover. A Cloud Mirror Estimates the Amount of Cloud Coverage in the Sky. The percentage of cloud cover is visually estimated and expressed in oktas (eighths of the sky covered in clouds). What do you call a sheep with no legs?
