  2. 2. Betts and Knapp, (1981) Autonomous Learner is “one who solves problems or develops new ideas through a combination of divergent and convergent thinking and functions with minimal external guidance in selected areas of endeavour.”
  3. 3. Selman (2001) says that “ideal adult learners are described in the adult education literature as autonomous individuals·”
  4. 4. Autonomous Learners. Independent Critical Reflective Can develop critical thinking, self-awareness and analytical skills. Can evaluate , estimate or make judgements about knowledge. Can identify by himself information and distinguish the different uses it has.
  5. 5. Show Responsibility for their own learning. Have Initiative Are able to monitor and evaluate their own learning. Autonomous Learners. Are critical and analytical thinkers. Adapt when taking / making decisions. Are life-long learners

  9. 9. CONCLUSION I think that I go through this process and I consider myself as an autonomous learner because I have some of these characteristics of autonomus learning.
