PROPOSAL 1
prepared by Cha Yun Xian
Building a sports club for a better and healthier lifestyles.
INTRODUCTION TO THE SITE
Our site is a part of land from an unused and undeveloped piece of
meadow. It is located at the corner of a T-junction near Jalan Putra
Permai 10/1q in Persiaran Putra Megah.
OUR SITE
2500m2
50m
50m
SITE ADVANTAGES
The prime location of this place is the main reason why it was chose to
be our site. Despite locating at an obvious point which is the corner of
a T-junction, it also locates near a few residential areas.
Others advantages:
1. easily accessible
2. beautiful environment, surrounded by trees
3. low air pollution index
SITE DISADVANTAGES
Around our site are a few family-based residential areas, a settlement
of approximately 700 homes and 3000 population. However, there is no
place in sight nearby for the community to relax like Community Park,
football field, playground etc.
Others disadvantages:
1. cesspool locates 200m away
RATIONALE
Through a series of analysis and studying of the advantages and
disadvantages of the site, it is obvious that there is no place nearby for
the people of the community to go and seek for fun during their free
times. A few possible ideas that might implement on this empty land to
pinpoint the issues of this area in what it may be lacking and propose a
somewhat commercial enhancement fit for the clients of this project.
1. Lack of recreational relaxing spaces: The area of the site is lack
of recreational area such as Community park, football field,
jogging track, etc. There are only barren lands and meadows
around the residential area, tiny private yards are the only place
for the residents to seek for leisure activities.
2. Implementing healthy living concept: The people in the
community need a easy-to-go place for them to go for exercise.
It helps to create a healthy lifestyle for the community.
3. Great spot to develop a recreational area: The site is surrounded
more than 5 residential areas.
4. Easily accessible: The site is located in a middles class residential
area with many various roads leading to it. There will not be any
traffic jam in the area.
Therefore, our site is to be developed into a recreational area.
Recreation is an activity of leisure, leisure being discretionary time. The
"need to do something for recreation" is an essential element of human
biology and psychology. Recreational activities are often done for
enjoyment, amusement, or pleasure and are considered to be "fun".
Humans spend their time in activities of daily living, work, sleep, social
duties, and leisure, the latter time being free from prior commitments to
physiologic or social needs, a prerequisite of recreation. Leisure has
increased with increased longevity and, for many, with decreased
hours spent for physical and economic survival, yet others argue that
time pressure has increased for modern people, as they are committed
to too many tasks. Other factors that account for an increased role of
recreation are affluence, population trends, and increased
commercialization of recreational offerings. While one perception is
that leisure is just "spare time", time not consumed by the necessities of
living, another holds that leisure is a force that allows individuals to
consider and reflect on the values and realities that are missed in the
activities of daily life, thus being an essential element of personal
development and civilization. This direction of thought has even been
extended to the view that leisure is the purpose of work, and a reward
in itself, and "leisure life" reflects the values and character of a nation.
Leisure is considered a human right under the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights.
Examples of recreational activities:
1. cycling
2. bird watching
3. swimming
4. skateboarding
5. playing badminton
6. playing basketball
7. fishing
8. boating
etc.
OBJECTIVE
With the changing times, people often forget about the importance of
exercise because of their hectic life. Research has shown that exercise
not only can reduce man risk of major illnesses, such as heart disease,
stroke, diabetes and cancer by up to 50%, but also lower the risk of
early death by up to 30%. The objective of this project is to provide a
place for the hardworking community around it to have a little
getaway from their busy schedule, a place where they can exercise
and relax.
CONCEPT
The concept of this project is healthy living. Healthy living is more than
simple daily habits – it's a lifestyle. To lead a healthy lifestyle, people
should always make time for exercise. In order to achieve this, a
50mx50m empty land at Putra Megah is used to develop a
recreational area which includes a small sports club and an open
space.

CONCLUSION
At the end of this project, I’ve conclude that developing an empty
land into a place that benefits both clients and the surrounding
community is not simple. There are a lot of issues that must be
considered when planning the project, for example the location,
condition of the environment and surroundings, community,
accessibility from a place to another, sustainability of the place, etc. It
is very important to do a site analysis before planning a new project to
reduce or avoid any unwanted construction problems. Plus, coordinate
and develop an understanding of coherent working relations among
various industry players is also very important in this project, so that
communication between professionals from different fields can be
effective. In this project, I’ve learnt how to analysis the condition of a
site and think about its plasticity, excavate its potential to make it a
better place for the people. Research helps me a lot in getting ideas; it
is an important process that can’t be ignored while creating something
new.

CONCLUSION At the end of this project, I’ve conclude that developing an empty land into a place that benefits both clients and the surrounding community is not simple. There are a lot of issues that must be considered when planning the project, for example the location, condition of the environment and surroundings, community, accessibility from a place to another, sustainability of the place, etc. It is very important to do a site analysis before planning a new project to reduce or avoid any unwanted construction problems. Plus, coordinate and develop an understanding of coherent working relations among various industry players is also very important in this project, so that communication between professionals from different fields can be effective. In this project, I’ve learnt how to analysis the condition of a site and think about its plasticity, excavate its potential to make it a better place for the people. Research helps me a lot in getting ideas; it is an important process that can’t be ignored while creating something new.
