For PHOTISSIMA 2015 This is Contemporary Art, Pramantha Arte presents two solo of artists Kristina Kurilionok and Antonella Zerbinati: Mind Body. Identity Image curated by Maria Rosaria Gallo.
Two artistic sensibilities and two pictorial worlds very different from each other in aesthetic as well as in figuration. They are united, however, by the introspective approach that makes special their research, and by the same conceptual interest: to investigate the influence of the image in the processes of subjective identity formation; and the role of this influence in the self-perception and into the relationship with the surrounding world. In both cases it follows the development of an art focused on the female figure and its psychic metamorphosis. An art in which one can discover that photography play a key role - sometimes in terms of portraits and self-portraits, sometimes in terms of memory fragments, always understood as a tool of investigation and mental processing.

Mind Body. Image Identity

Per PHOTISSIMA 2015 This is Contemporary Art, Pramantha Arte pre-
zione; desideri, memorie e sogni.
densa, spessa, stratificata, ricca e ansiosa; a volte cupa.
verso stanze fisiche e mentali dove si articolano gesti, movenze, equi-

2. Kristina KurilionokAntonella Zerbinati
For PHOTISSIMA 2015 This is Contemporary Art, Pramantha Arte pre-
sents two solo of artists Kristina Kurilionok and Antonella Zerbinati:
Mind Body. Identity Image curated by Maria Rosaria Gallo.
Two artistic sensibilities and two pictorial worlds very different from
each other in aesthetic as well as in figuration. They are united, howe-
ver, by the introspective approach that makes special their research,
and by the same conceptual interest: to investigate the influence of the
image in the processes of subjective identity formation; and the role of
this influence in the self-perception and into the relationship with the
surrounding world. In both cases it follows the development of an art
focused on the female figure and its psychic metamorphosis. An art in
which one can discover that photography play a key role - sometimes
in terms of portraits and self-portraits, sometimes in terms of memory
fragments, always understood as a tool of investigation and mental
processing.
With Kristina Kurilionok the image becomes the medium of a cognitive
journey in the continuous ego’s metamorphosis that - in the flow of exi-
stence - is always hanging in the balance between topicality, remini-
scence and projection; desires, memories and dreams.
With the series Metamorphosis of memories (painting on photographs
found in the family album) and Self-portraits, the artist poses the que-
stion of identity Who am I ?, bringing out all its complexity: urgent in its
anarchist side, painful in its intersubjective dimension, tiring in its exi-
stential. The visual result is a dense painting, thick, layered, rich and an-
xious; sometimes grim. The composition elements of the atmosphere
become a state of mind and the pictorial space becomes the theatrical
scene in which the distorted postures of the figures, the light played on
the body and the action narrated by the gestures are translated into a
static and disturbing emotional tension.
In the Antonella Zerbinati’s approach the theme body-mind takes on a
specific meaning that puts female identity in connection with the body,
exploring it in the erotic dimension, specially in the form of autoeroti-
cism. Portraits and Self-Portraits give life to a pagan erotic where the
sensual experience is primarily self discovery and self-knowledge. A
practice that becomes a kind of a daily ritual, Erotique de tous les jours,
and that it seems a physical and mental journay through rooms where
you articulate gestures, movements, balance and sensual relationships,
and where the sexual act is celebrated as a sacred act, as the perfect
combination of spirituality and physicality, reason and instinct. The at-
tempt is to take away the erotic image of female body from a certain
kind of collective monopoly that objectifies it, to bring it into a personal
and intimate sphere where every feeling (pleasure, pain, shame, ec-
stasy) are freed by the social and media meanings, in favor of a genuine
self-perception. The visual result is dominated by white color and pink
flesh; sometimes more lit and marked, sometimes more ethereal and
subtle. The figures sometimes emerge dense and opaque, sometimes
reveal themselves transparent and light. The poetry oscillates between
a classic sense of the sublime harmony and a contemporary sense of li-
berating provocation.
