The sun came out today! Yay! I mean, really……it came out and while it was still quite chilly, it was actually a beautiful day! For those of you who realize that I live in California, you may be under the assumption that we have sunshine all the time. That going out for exercise means being outside walking on the beach.

Suddenly Sunny Sunday Walking
The sun came out today! Yay! I mean , really……it came out an d wh ile it was still quite
ch illy, it was actually a beautiful day! For th ose of you wh o realize th at I live in California,
you may be un der th e assumption th at we h ave sun sh in e all th e time. T hat g oing out for
exer cise means being outside walking on the beach.
Well, a lot of the time, we do. But I live in th e Central Valley area of California. Th ere is n o
beach . An d, on ce in a wh ile, we actually h ave fog or very overcast days. Wh en we do, th ey
can g o on for wh at seems like an etern ity. And it gets cold! So, n o, we can ’t wear
swimsuits outside all year lon g . This ain’t Baywatch!
This particular Sunday, the sunshine just happened out of the blue. We’ve h ad a lot of rain an d
we’re expectin g a lot more. So wh en I n oticed sh adows h ittin g my kitch en floor, I dared to
look outside. Lo and behold . . . . . SUNSHINE! So I g rabbed my ten n ies an d my jacket
an d out th e door I wen t.
Glorious, beautiful sunshine! So . . . . . after g oin g back in to th e h ouse in a desperate
search for my lon g -un used sun g lasses, I h eaded out for a walk.
We live on a very long block, so my walk took me almost twen ty min utes! Well, it was th e
lon g block, and the complete lack of exercise that haunts my everyday life. I kn ow I n eed to g et
out an d walk more; I even boug h t a treadmill for times wh en I didn ’t wan t to g o outside for
a walk.
My main problem is Fibromyalgia. I was diag n osed with th is back in 1998. It on ly g et
worse with ag e, sorry to say. It h as caused me to develop n erve damag e in my leg s an d feet
so walkin g can be a ch allen g e. Th en wh en I don ’t h urt so much , I ten d to overdo th e
walkin g an d th at can put me down for several days. What a pain! I wrote about th is
con dition in an earlier post if you wan t to read it. Just CLICK HERE.
So I walked around our entire block. And it felt great! To th in k th at I h ad actually been
missin g exercise! It took almost twen ty min utes, sure, but I did it. My n ose was frozen for
th e rest of th e day, but so wh at? I made the walk!
So, thanks, Niamh Arthur, for this particular challenge! Got me up an d movin g . An d wh en I
g o on my cruise in Jan uary, I’m looking forward to sunny, WARM days, along with lots of
opportunities for walking everywhere!
Walking around the block would be even better if I could figure out a
way to blog and walk at the same time!
That way, working from home would have zero drawbacks! Because when I’m blogging, I’m
on the way to financial independence; I’d better be in good shape to reap the benefits! You can
