Fraud steals Life. It steals life savings, the value of business, and the life-blood of community. Fraud is daily everywhere, a constant risk. Vital are the steps you can take to avoid fraud. Have the courage to discuss this among friends, family, and professional advisors.

2. Fraud destroys Life and Wealth
• Fraud has devastated lives and families.
• Fraud has stolen from charities & community.
• Fraud hurts pensions, governments, and
multi-national organizations.
• Fraud is nearby, around the corner, in your
local news.
3. Fraud is global; Fraud is local
• Every week we learn of charges being laid for
fraud, from local to global communities.
• Seniors’ savings are stolen: $10,000 or $50,000
and even $3Million and up. One fraudster will
usually hit dozens or hundreds of victims.
• Infamous Madoff made off with $50Billion.
Smiles, suits, shining referrals and handshakes
are no certain guarantee of honesty.
4. Is it so bad? Is it everywhere?
• Find out for yourself at www.Google.com and
type the name of your nearest city + the word
“fraud”. In a mid-sized town it will show over
½ Million results. Large city: >1Million hits.
• Type “list of con artists” at www.Wikipedia.com
and prepare to be surprised. Related entry on
“fraud” is so active the editors are continually
updating citations to match current news.
5. From your Business, your Pension
• From business, pension, inheritance or savings,
your wealth is a vital possession. It’s your
ticket to the life you choose. It represents
your freedom, your independence and
comfort.
• If your money can never be replaced, and
losing it would destroy life dreams, goals and
family estate, here are some ideas to consider
and help you protect your wealth.
6. Avoid losing to Fraud
1. Take personal responsibility and an
inquisitive interest in the advisor and firm
that serves to secure your wealth & income.
2. Is it someone you already know who has
served well with a lesser sum up to now?
3. Or due to a key wealth event in your life are
you now in possession of a larger sum and
needing a higher level of strategic planning?
7. Avoid losing to Fraud
4. Is the advisor recommended among other
peers and professionals: eg. other advisers,
as well as legal/accounting professionals.
5. Does she/he carry accreditations of someone
who has studied and served with excellence?
6. Do they serve under oversight of duly
constituted regulatory authorities?
8. Avoid losing to Fraud
7. Check the news and any other sources: has
the advisor been subject to penalties for
wrongdoing?
8. Is there a clean record of good standing and
membership in relevant financial
associations?
9. Avoid losing to Fraud
9. You might consider my personal preference,
a model in which the advisor never touches
your money, where roles of advice and
custody are clearly separated.
