Plants have developed environmental adaptations to access sunlight by growing taller or climbing to reach the sun, crowding out other plants. They also store water to survive dry seasons, as water is important for many cellular processes like photosynthesis and growth. Storing more water also allows for enhanced anti-herbivory mechanisms to protect the plant.
