Establishing your root folder
1.
2. In your home drive folder:
First, go to your student drive and create a folder that
we will call your "root folder."
Name this folder "portfolio_yourname."
We will begin a convention of using all small letters for
the names of everything: all files, folders, images, etc.
Another convention is that you will not use any spaces.
An underscore can be used instead of a space, as
above.
3. Establish two subfolders
Inside the root folder, make two subfolders.
Label one images. (no period)
Label the other one styles. (no period)
4. Make a blank html page.
Go to Notepad.
First go to Start, then All Programs
Then go to Accessories
Open Notepad
Do not type anything yet.
Save that document as: index.html
You must type the .html or else it will safe as a .txt
file, which is a text file not a file that the browser will
recognize as a web page.
5. Sketch it out
Sketch a flowchart that shows the folders, subfolders,
and file
Upload your flowchart to Moodle so your instructor
can be sure all is per the instructions.
