2. You are in the concert, and you want to share the
awesomeness of the crowd to anyone who wasn’t able to
come to the venue. Is it possible?
It is a complicated thing to do, but PeekInToo will make it easy.
PeekInToo is a social network that allows us to exchange video
almost in real time and in an easy way. For more details, let’s
read the interview with one of the PeekInToo’s co-founders
Yiannis Verginadis bellow:
breadnbeyond: How would you describe PeekInToo?
Yiannis Verginadis: PeekInToo is an anonymous
social-network application that allows smartphone users to
request and receive real-time short videos from anyplace in
the world.
PeekInToo aims to offer people new means for perceiving and
virtually witnessing anything that is happening around the
world, almost in real-time and upon request. Users (i.e.
Peekers) through an anonymous social network have the
opportunity to request real-time “Peeks” (i.e. 12 seconds
video), past “Peeks” (up to two hours ago) and provide
“PeekShouts” (i.e. voluntary Peeks capturing interesting
incidents) from any place, event or point of interest in the
world (e.g. shopping malls, concerts, sport events, touristic
attractions, breaking news incidents), using only their mobile
devices. PeekInToo users will directly benefit as they will satisfy
their curiosity, acquiring knowledge that may lead to changes
of their behavior and decisions regarding the time of
performing a business or leisure activity in a specific place;
thus, saving time, improving productivity (in business
activities) or enhancing the degree of satisfaction with respect
to leisure activities. On the other hand a completely new tool
will be offered to businesses that will increase the visibility of
their products and services.
breadnbeyond: How did you come up with the concept of
PeekInToo?
Yiannis Verginadis: PeekInToo derives from a real need
identified by the founders that was extensively verified as a
wider one. PeekInToo aims to grant people’s everlasting wish
to constantly know and be able to experience everything that
is happening now, anywhere around the world in the easiest
possible way. Nowadays, the most convenient way to access
real-time content is through mobile devices and this is why
PeekInToo has been launched as a mobile App. It is also
important to note that our focus is the discovery and exchange
of short video content from anyplace around the world. In
order to address this aim, we consider the current location of
Peekers in order to find the most appropriate ones for
satisfying Peek requests. By strongly supporting the anonymity
between PeekInToo users, we address at the same time
security concerns by not revealing any kind of information
regarding our users (even if it is just a user name or email). We
believe that the following years we are going to experience a
burst of anonymous social networks and we hope that we will
be among the pioneers of this market.
breadnbeyond: How long did it take for you to build
PeekInToo?
Yiannis Verginadis: We started working on PeekInToo around
January 2013 and spent 2-3 months building the team and its
collaborators along with conducting market and competitors’
analysis. At the end of October 2013 the first version of
PeekInToo App was released on the App store. Before that
extensive testing in private Alpha and Beta versions, was
conducted using testers from all around the world. The team
(Yiannis Verginadis, Fotis Paraskevopoulos and Georgios
Tsoukalas) is continuously working on enhancing the App with
the full list of the designed functionalities and start expanding
to various markets.
breadnbeyond: How you differentiate yourself from the
competitors? Do you have any competition at all?
Yiannis Verginadis: We emphasize that PeekInToo is a
groundbreaking idea and implementation that focuses strictly
on real-time request capabilities for receiving short
informative videos by using an anonymous social network (i.e.
no previous traditional social network
connection is needed between two users in

3. order to make a Peek request). This differentiates PeekInToo
completely from other prominent social networks (e.g.
Facebook, Twitter) or other video related applications/services
(e.g. Vine, Youtube etc.). Our closest competitor is LocalMind
that gives users the ability to post questions (using text) in a
certain geographical area or directly to available eponymous
users.
breadnbeyond: What is your future plan for PeekInToo?
Yiannis Verginadis: Our plan is to disseminate the idea and
make PeekInToo available to as many mobile users as
possible. A number of events will be supported by PeekInToo
around the world in order to engage into our anonymous
social network, people with diverse interests and activities that
will be willing to instantly inform others around the world
about the situation around their current location.
breadnbeyond: You commissioned us to create Animated
Explainer Video for your App. Why do you think Explainer Video
is so important for you to have? Considering that PeekInToo is
still in the early stage.
Yiannis Verginadis: We strongly believe that video content is
the most direct way to inform people and tell your story. The
animated explainer videos constitute a necessity especially for
startups that need to explain their idea in a fun way. Such
videos can assist and enhance the virality of a startup idea, a
fact that it is important for PeekInToo although it is still in early
stage.
