By: Kyle Debolt
Peripheral Neuropathy is the disease of the central nervous system which affects the Feet. It is
a disease that takes away your sensations in the lower body making you feel numb almost all
the time. It is also the disease which is defined as the abnormal nerve functions of the feet
although the arms may be affected as well. Sometimes most commonly known as neuropathy
in feet which is a very dangerous complication especially when you are prone to diabetes.
One of the most common symptoms of Peripheral Neuropathy is decreased in sensation.
Although sometimes this lack of sensations are not available to see using our naked eyes we
need a medical equipment to check if we have a normal sensation rate. The decreased in
sensation may vary depending on severity but sometimes the worst has a more painful
symptoms like burning pain and pin and needles poking sensation.
The feet are one of the most exposed areas of our body, we need to take good care of our feet
in order to prevent major complications. Neuropthy feet serve as an eye-opener for all of us
not underestimate a chronic disease like Diabetes. We all know that having a small skin wound
can lead to tragic operations which is unavoidable when you are a diabetic patient.
The conditions that caused peripheral neuropathy are numerous and broad. But still the most
common cause is Diabetes Melitus, that is why we need to take good care of our bodies.
Although sometimes this disease can be related to heredity, there is no actual scientific proof
that proves these claims. We need to be vigilant while we are still young to avoid these
complications as we go older.
Treatment for peripheral neuropathy may vary depending on the cause. In conditions like
Diabetes it is best to control the disease to lessen the neuropathy symptoms. If harmful blood
glucose is the main caused of the neuropathy, it is best to watch over your intake of glucose to
avoid the severity of lack of sensation. Peripheral neuropathy that affects the lower body
should be treated immediately to avoid more harmful complications.
