                Step 7:
           Feedback and Reflect
Step 1:
               Choosing a topic
There are a variety of ways to choose a
                   topic.

                Things to consider:
Is this project going to be something the
students will use to expand on a subject?
                       OR
Is this project a way for the students to
              learn about a subject?

                    Fiction
                     OR
                    Non-Fiction

                    Group
                     OR
                 Independent

Figure out a timeline and consider the amount
of work that will be going into this project. It
will help with deciding on a topic.
Step 2:
              Research
Now that the topic is selected...

How will the students learn the content?

                Books
              Textbooks
              Websites
            Search Engines
                 etc.

     How will they be researching?

      Taking notes (notecards)
  Answering predetermined questions
           Reading a book
                etc.
Step 3:
     Scripting and Developing a Storyboard

          Compile all the research.

               Find your voice.

               Write a script.

Complete a storyboard with ideas and sketch-
es. Map out everything you will need.
Step 4:
Gather and/or create image, video, audio, and text

                    Images:
Use a digital camera to take pictures.
Use creative commons images from websites.
Digitally draw images. (KidPix, TuxPaint, etc.)

                     Video:
Film live video with a video camera.
    Find creative commons videos online.
Create Flash animations (Scratch, Gamemaker-
        More info on following page.)

                  Audio:
          Record and mix sounds.
   (Garageband, Audacity, MixCraft, etc.)
Creative Commons audio can be found online.

                  Text:
         Wordle, WordArt, Typefaces

*This is a great place to teach about copyright*
Scratch
“Scratch is a new programming language that
makes it easy to create your own interactive
stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and
share your creations on the web”

Free of charge for both Mac and PC

The students create stories, games, and anima-
tions by snapping together blocks that program
                    objects.
Step 5:
               Put it all together

There are a variety of programs that will allow
you to take all your media and combine it.

                iMovie (Mac)
              Movie Maker (PC)

               Garageband (Mac)

            PowerPoint (Mac and PC)
               Keynote (Mac)
Step 6:
                    Share

Students should share their work with their
                 classmates.

It is important that they can share their knowl-
edge and show the work they put into it.

They can also be posted to:

               School websites
        Classroom blogs and/or wikis
         TeacherTube or YouTube
Step 7:
           Feedback and Reflect

       Assess through the process.

Develop a rubric for the students to follow
     Grade according to that rubric.

Allow for the students to reflect on BOTH
       their work and the process.
