2. 1. Lay down a paper or plastic plate / a cereal box
3. 2. Use a container (soda can, mason jar, plastic bottle,
etc.) to form the center of your volcano. This is where
you will mix your lava!
4. 3. Use clay to make the rest of the volcano. Mold the
clay from the base to the top of the can. Try to make it
look lumpy instead of smooth, since real volcanoes
don’t look like perfect cones most of the time!
6. 5. Mix about ¾ parts of the vinegar, add about a
spoonful of dish soap
and food coloring.
7. 6. Pour the mixture into the volcano and watch what
your volcano come alive.
8. • This volcano will give you an idea of what it might
look like when a volcano erupts flowing lava. This is a
classic experiment in which a CHEMICAL reaction can
create the appearance of a PHYSICAL volcano
eruption.
• The reaction will bubble up and flow down the side
like a real volcano
