  1. 1. Kingdom Group Project The Six Kingdoms Classifying living things
  2. 2. <ul><li>How do you know that a dog is different from a cat? Or that you are a human and not bacteria? Through this group project we will begin to answer these questions. </li></ul>
  3. 3. WHO <ul><li>Each student will be in a group and assigned a role. </li></ul><ul><li>Roles will be assigned in class </li></ul>
  4. 4. WHAT <ul><li>Each group will conduct research and organize thoughts and present a power point presentation in class. </li></ul>
  5. 5. WHEN <ul><li>You will have two weeks to work on this assignment. </li></ul><ul><li>You will be allowed class time to work on this assignment but it may also be necessary to work at home. </li></ul>
  6. 6. WHERE <ul><li>You will be allowed to use the library and computer lab </li></ul><ul><li>You will present this material during your scheduled class time </li></ul>
  7. 7. WHY <ul><li>One of the science skills terms is classification. We will use this skill in order to classify living things. </li></ul>
  8. 8. HOW <ul><li>You will turn in a folder that includes: </li></ul><ul><li>A COVER PAGE: this should have your kingdom, the name of your group members, the period and my name on it </li></ul><ul><li>2. A STUDENT HANDOUT: This handout should be a list of important facts or information that you think your classmates should know about your kingdom </li></ul>
  9. 9. <ul><li>3. A 1 PAGE SUMMARY: this needs to be one page of content. You will need to summarize and reword information you find in an organized manner. </li></ul><ul><li>4. A COPY OF POWERPOINT: this is a copy of your presentation in handout format. This is to include information about your kingdom with appropriate graphics </li></ul>
  10. 10. EVERYONE MUST PARTICIPATE <ul><li>Each person will be assigned one of the following roles. However, each person is to help in all areas of the project. </li></ul>
  11. 11. ROLES: Director <ul><li>The director is responsible for making sure every part of the project is assigned and completed. This person is responsible for delegating tasks, checking progress, and making sure each group member is accountable for his or her materials. </li></ul>
  12. 12. ROLES: Designer <ul><li>The designer is responsible for creating an artistic theme and deciding how the project will look. This person will decide how materials will be organized and put together. The designer and the recorder will work together. </li></ul>
  13. 13. ROLES: Researcher <ul><li>The researcher is responsible for finding information that is necessary for the project. This person will research several sources and choose the relevant information to give the recorder. </li></ul>
  14. 14. ROLES: Recorder <ul><li>The recorder is responsible for typing and recording the ideas of the group. This person will format and organize the summary page, power point, and student handout. The designer and recorder work together. </li></ul>
  15. 15. ROLES: Reporter <ul><li>The reporter is responsible for organizing how the information will be reported to the class. He or she will organize the presentation. </li></ul>
