E-Learning Elements College uses the Moodle VLE 3,000 enrolled users 400+ courses Previously used Blackboard College has a small e-learning unit, to support and train staff and produce some materials, and to explore e-learning options Students have bookable access to 120 computers in Learning Resource Centre In assessment centre online assessments can be undertaken

The Motivate Project College was a lead partner in Motivate a Leonardo small-partnership project with 4 other countries – Poland, Portugal, Germany & Romania Motivate was a mobile-learning project Project finished at end of June 2011 – has run for two years College bid for a Leonardo Transfer of Innovation project for €300,000 to take forward work of Motivate. This has been unsuccessful

Scottish Further Education Generally Currently approximately 42 Further Education Colleges in Scotland (some mergers taking place) All funding comes from Scottish Funding Council Further Education sits between School and University, with emphasis on vocation education However 25% of all degrees in Scotland take place in FE Colleges

Some Aspects of ICT in Scotland Many Colleges and Universities use the Moodle VLE, with Blackboard being the most common alternative Most Scottish schools are linked by the GLOW network, a national intranet Scotlands Colleges have a common repository for learning materials There is a online assessment system SOLAR run by the main Scottish Qualification provider – SQA Computer access in schools and colleges is generally good
