Hi! I guess you want to lean what books by you
is. Let’s start off with the basics:
• Books by you is a program that helps you
write a book
• Read and edit the chapters to make them
yours
• Answer questions to put the characters and
other things in your story
Lets continue.....
3. Signing in...
Okay you’ve installed the program. This bit of
using books by you is easy. You’ve come to a
screen with a large box and two narrow boxes.
In the first narrow box, (The top one!!) write
your first name (In this case it’s 4/5 D). In the
second box (The one bellow the first box)
write your last name (In this case it’s 2009).
Get that? It’s easy, isn’t it?
Moving on....
4. Choosing the book template......
You’ve signed in and you’re nearly ready to
write! You just need something to write.
Here’s some of the book templates:
• The alien and the cheese
• The case of the missing monkey
They sound interesting..
5. What do we need to do now....
Well as you’ve seen a man has told you what the
book basics are. His name is John Lithgow.
He’ll help you along the way. Answer all these
questions and they will appear in your book.
When you’re finished....
6. Your first chapter!
Now you are at a screen with a book-like page.
This is the screen you should see:
Click the blue underlined
text to change it. Purple
underlined text is your
edited text. Always read
through your chapters to
make the blue text edited.
At every new chapter has
some questions to answer.
When you have
finished all your
chapters.....
7. Finishing touches....
Now this is the moment to make the front
cover, all about you and the dedication. Use
the arrows to choose the pictures. When you
have finished you can print your book and....
READ IT!
