Sharing my process for design with the Miami tech community at O Cinema Wynwood on 9/2/14. A summary. As a designer, you must: 1. Simply define problem in a way you understand it and make sure all of the stakeholders are onboard your definition. "What problem am I solving and what emotion am I trying to capture?" 2. Research possible solutions. Use a resource called Dribbble.com to look up aesthetic styles and different layout design ideas. 3. Everything from the definition of the problem to the layout ideas, you should write down every detail. Make a bunch of sketches, and then make some more. Brotip: Bring the notepad and pen to bed with you. 4. Take a break. Walk away for a day. Once the seed is planted, your mind will create the ideas. The solutions to the problems you're trying to solve will likely come unexpected. 5. Make iterations after taking a break, review with stakeholders, and if all is good, proceed to creating a high fidelity mockup using software like Photoshop or Sketch.
