1. TURKEY
FRUITS OF THE HEART AND MIND
This project has taught everybody a lot of things and at this moment we know more
things than before. We learned about cultures different than ours, about important people
that changed the world’s face.
Now, we know that SENECA was a very important philosopher who took part in Spain’s
political life. We have also learnt that MIGUEL DE CERVANTES who wrote “Don Quixote
de la Mancha”, was a soldier, fought at Lepanto, lost an arm and was a slave in Algiers
for five years before he was ransomed by his family and allowed to return home. We
have been impressed by GAUDY’s “Sagrada Familia” with it’s details and rich history.
Now, we know more about LEONARDO DA VINCI, about DANTE, MICHELANGELO and
VERDI. We know more about “The Last Supper”, “Mona Lisa”, “The Vitruvian Man”,
The Sixtine Chapel Ceiling, the statues of Moses, David and the beautiful “La Pieta”.
Now, we know about BORIS MANCA, who is one of the most important singers in Turkey.
We were so impressed by the Whirling Dervishes and Mevlana, that has become a part of
Turkish custom, history, beliefs and culture.
“Now, we know lots of things, and now we are certain, that, no matter where they lived,
great people left signs of their passage and their work is everybody’s. They may have
lived in different countries, in different times, did different things, but they are so much
our contemporaries that we could feel their spirits with us every step of the way. We
share the same values and ideals, we may be different in some ways, but yet, we have in
common the love and respect for our traditions, scientists, poets, painters, for our
countries and the countries that form the great family of this amazing project.
I think that this project means very much for us all. I consider that it has somehow
changed my life just because now I know that somewhere in the world, there is somebody
I consider my friend or part of my new family. I am very glad I have had the chance to
see new places and meet wonderful people.”

fell you are welcomed here. People are warm and kind. I am so glad I could come here
and meet people from Italy, Spain and Turkey. This project is the best way to make
