2. Introduction
• Thomas E. Tate launched Tate Builders, Inc., in
1983 and has since built and renovated a number of
homes on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.
Outside of his professional activities, Thomas “Tom”
Tate works in support of several organizations,
including Amnesty International, the Red Cross, and
World Vision.
In a recent press release, World Vision announced
that Boeing generously donated nearly 1,000
bicycles that were once used to transport employees
at the company’s massive manufacturing facility in
Everett, Washington.
3. World Vision
• Children around the world will benefit from the
donation, which is the largest of its kind in World
Vision’s 65-year history.
Currently, World Vision is in the process of
distributing hundreds of bikes in Zambia and other
developing African countries, where children are
often in need of safe and efficient forms of
transportation. Although the majority of bicycles
will be placed in communities outside the United
States, World Vision will also provide a number of
bikes to children in need throughout the Pacific
Northwest.
