Main Activities and Responsibilities:
▪ Definition of procedures and coordination of technical activities for the validation of safety critical
railway and metro applications;
▪ Definition and management of Technical SafetyActivities for Railway and Metro projects ,
according to European Standards (CENELEC EN 50126, 50128 and 50129).
▪ Implementation of Risk Management Process according to European Regulation (EU) N°402/2013
and related amendment N°2015/1136 on the Common Safety Methods for risk evaluation and
assessment (repealing Regulation N°352/2009);
▪ Management of V&V activities;
▪ Safety analyses: Hazard analysis, risk assessment, controls and requirement definition and
allocation (SIL, THR, qualitative safety requirements);
▪ Drafting of technical documentation CENELEC-compliant (Safety Cases, Safety and V&V Plans,
Validation Reports, etc);
▪ Support for System safety certification activities: Technical interface with ISA (Independent Safety
Assessor);
▪ Support for System Acceptance : Technical interface with the Employer;
▪ Analysis and review of Railway Signalling Systems based on relay; (ACE,ACEI,SBA,PL, other
European Schemes);
▪ Tests execution on lab and on field for Specific Railway and Metro Applications.
Main projects and related roles and mandates:
▪ 2006-2010: Sistema Controllo Marcia Treno (SCMT) – SST as V&V Engineer
▫ Integration activities between SCMT-wayside and Interlocking (computer based and
electromechanical-based)
▫ Verification and Validation of Construction Design for specific application (interface with static
and electromechanical interlocking, power supplies, adjustments to the system), according to
the System Requirements Specifications defined by the Railway Authority.
▫ Technical Verification and Functional Tests on field (supporting Commission for Technical
Verification according to Italian rail instruction 16/2003 RFI)
▫ Verification of Lineside Electronic Units (LEU) and Balises configuration
▫ Main Tracklines/installations:
2006/2007 :Compartimento di Reggio Calabria (Metaponto- R.Calabria and
Battipaglia-R.Calabria lines)
2007: Compartimento di Napoli (UM Marcianise, Nodo NA), Compartimento di
Verona (Milano-Venezia and Mantova-Brennero), Compartimento Firenze.
2008-2011: Compartimento Torino (Quadruplicamento Nodo Torino: Torino P.ta
susa, TO Stura) e Verona-Brennero.
▪ 2006-2010 : Italian AV/AC (ERTMS L 2 - Wayside) as V&V Engineer
▫ Validation of logic diagrams for the trackside relationship management to support
interconnections between national (italian) and the AV/AC lines

▫ Technical and functional verifications on ERTMS trackside system configuration (Eurobalise,
