• A remote controlled flying robot
• Flies autonomously but mainly through software controlled flight
plans that are embedded in their systems, working in conjunction with GPS.
• Most often associated with the military but has many other applications

In the mid-1800s Austria sent unmanned bomb-filled balloons to attack Venice
In early 1900s, it was used for target practice to train military personnel.(during WWI)
In late 1990s, Israel, made a modern-battlefield-UAV, featuring live video streaming
Starting from early 20s, drones gained popularity & begin using in different purposes, many
Companies begin trying to build with their methods and design. Its, now used for home purpose,
Commercial purpose & industrial and research purpose.

7. Real Time Usage: Present, Past & Future
Since 2008, Drones are used in major film industries. Blockbuster movies like 3 idiots, Avatar &
Chennai Express both from Hollywood & Bollywood.
Drones are also popular in TV shows, Award shows. Indeed, Some companies are taking markets,
selling domestic drones. Drones were future since 2012 Olympics. Sports like Cricket, Football, Rugby are gaining
Popularity. Like how fast covering every fields, drones will be guaranteed to be there in the future.

8. Advantages
Saves Lives: Drones are greatly reduce putting military personnel in harm’s way or in combat.
Low Cost: Drones are significantly cheaper to purchase, fuel, and maintain than regular airplanes.
Low Risk: Drones are smaller and can fly lower than any airplanes, so there is less risk to problems.
Operational Hours: Without a human pilot, drones can stay in operation for significantly longer hours of
operation without fatigue.
Accuracy: Drones can have more pinpoint accuracy from greater distances, thus reducing
collateral damage to civilians and infrastructure.
Spying: Drones have proven to increase surveillance, reconnaissance, and general
military intelligence.

9. Disadvantages
• LIMITED ABILITIES: Drones have obvious limitations. For example, they cannot
communicate with civilians for more detailed intelligence. Drones cannot go from door to
door, at least, not yet.
• EXPENSIVE: They are very expensive compared to any smartphones. Drones cost starts
from Rs. 78,000 in Nepal which is equal to buying High-end Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge.
• SENSITIVE : The human mistake in the remote controls can cause the planes, helicopters
& aerial animals existence in danger.
• LOTS OF PAPER WORKS: You have to go through lots of Okay Sir before flying a real drone.
Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has great drones rules for flying drone too. Every country
have certain rules.

10. Conclusion
• Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are gaining popularity in military operations as surveillance and weapons platforms.
• These quadcopters are expensive, beyond the budget but eventually they will be less-expensive as years rolls on.
• Large companies like Amazon and Google are proposing to reshape the world’s infrastructure with drones delivering
packages
• Talking about the future, Soon, drones will be in the every corners of the world, from the Arctic to the Antarctic, in
mountains and in desert valleys below sea level, in cities and above isolated villages.
