Archimedes discovered a principle of physics while taking a bath. He realized that the amount of water displaced must be equal to the volume of the object immersed in the water. This discovery became known as Archimedes' principle, which states that the buoyant force on an object submerged or partially submerged in a fluid is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.
