Profile
As a professional train driver, my critical decision making and problem solving abilities are exceptional. My
extensive experience and disciplined approach enable me to take responsibility and show initiative in the safety
critical and fast changing environment that is the modern railway system. I have a willingness to learn, including
adapting to new technologies to meet the benchmarks set by today’s professional rail organistions. I can

Skills and Experience
A career spanning 30 years in the rail industry, all of which has been heavy haul train driving. Strong skills and
experience in driver mentoring and skills transfer schemes, enabling me to develop the skills of others and also to
continually liaise with all operations areas including Live Run, Asset Management and Repairs and Maintenance.
Through working positively in team structures I can contribute to organisational goals and to the needs of others.
My role within the NRL further enables me to build upon these skills,and viceversa.

Experienced in and committed to efficient train management and service delivery whilst maintaining strong
safety systems and adhering to rail safe working standards and practices throughout a significant heavy haul
network (Hunter Valley Coal Chain =35 mines – 450 km ARA – 700+ kms track).
Applied new rail technologies to effect positive change within the workplace, including an active involvement
in the operational commissioning and testing of new locomotives, wagons and train management systems.
Such input has involved working with and repoint back to commissioning locomotive engineers, inspectors and
driver / trainer instructors to transition to new rollingstock and advanced technologies.
Extensive experience in mainline driving in a two-person crew, as well as driver only terminal operation,
highlighting skills in all aspects of locomotive driving, preparation, provisioning and testing, as well as the
marshalling and shunting of rolling stock, roll-bys and FX1 train inspection (including airbrake testing and
inspection and maintenance of wagons)
Working knowledge of modern locomotive fleets fitted with laptop functions, relevant in-house computer
