2. Adjectives
An adjective modifies a noun or a
pronoun. They answer one of the three
questions:
1. Which? Jim chose the green shirt.
2. What kind? Mandy wanted the smaller doll.
3. How many? Two men hid from the cops.
3. Adverbs
Adverbs modify a verb, another adverb, or an adjective.
They often answer the following questions:
1. When: She left yesterday.
2. Where: We came here.
3. How: He ran quickly.
4. To what degree: It was too hot.
4. Adjectives & Adverbs
Very common adjectives and adverbs use the degrees:
Use the word “more” or add an “er.”
The concert was more loud. (or) The concert was louder.
Use the word “most” or add an “est.” Also, add an “ly”
for adverbs.
The most fast car sold quickly. (or) The fastest car sold
more quickly.

2. The window of the store was full of attractive new
clothes.
3. The blue ribbon was given to the best gardener.
4. Several tall boys are members of the team this year.
5. That program is a good comedy.

cheaply.
2. A load of salmon arrived on the docks
yesterday.
3. People who shop wisely can save a great
deal of money.
4. There is a big sale at the mall today.
5. Denise always goes to sales.
