A learning experience designed by Blank Page
GREAT LEADERS share their defining stories,
values, and principles with others. They become
“teachable points of views”in explaining their
vision, goals, behaviors and decisions. This is where
authenticity comes from – through heartfelt self-
awareness and self-disclosure. When you look
to your past you can figure out what’s important
to you today; when you understand today, then
you can think about your future legacy and
begin sharing that purpose with your team, your
peers, your management. The clearer you are
about who you are and why you get out of bed
in the morning, the easier it will be to share those
expectations, prioritize choices and opportunities
and role model compassion.
USING APPROPRIATE TECHNIQUES FOR YOUR
GROUP, WE WILL...
DISCOVER what is important to you, how it aligns
with the organization’s values and expectations
and why it influences your relationships,
communication, decisions and results.
DESIGN a strategy that supports your desired
personal brand and leadership personality.
DEVELOP your teachable point of view about
how you want to deliver results through cross
functional collaboration with others.
DEFINE how you will know how you are doing
through continuous feedback, observation and
reflection.
It’s not “doing”
leadership, it’s figuring
out who you are and
who you want to be as a
leader.”
“Becoming an
authentic leader
involves transformation.

Communicating by Design
COMMUNICATION ISTHE CATALYST that motivates people to take
action at all levels of an organization. It accelerates decision making,
influences changes in our own and others’attitudes so we can solve
real problems and inspires innovation. Simply said, our ability to
communicate effectively is a choice and a fundamental element
of effective leadership and great results. We developed GUIDE as a
thought process to ensure your communications are effective by
design, not byaccident.
Our framework is designed to empower and inspire communication
that is personal, relevant and meaningful to your stakeholders
and enable you to create authentic and impactful interactions
consistently.
A GUIDE™ to EffectiveCommunication
GOAL CLARITY – Why are you communicating? What do you hope to accomplish?
What are your expectations?
UNLOCK COMMITMENT – Who needs to hear this? What do they need to know
about it? Why do they care? What are their expectations?
IMPACTFUL IDEAS – What do you actually need to communicate that will
resonate with your audience and achieve the goal? What“frame”will provide the
best context and connection?
DECISIVE ACTION – How do you want the audience to act, think, and feel? Do
your ideas and message motivate thataction?
EXECUTION EXCELLENCE – When and where do you communicate? Will it
engageand inspire action? How will you know if you were successful?
“The art of
communication is
the language of
leadership.”

Decision Making by Design
SessionThree
SMART LEADERSHIP is about making the most
of your work hours by learning to delegate,
prioritize and simplify. Learn tips and techniques
to optimize your contribution, impact and
engagement of others to take action.
How we prioritize, delegate and simplify the
complex starts with how we make decisions. The
process of decision making is both an art and a
science that, when done well, consistently drives
effectiveness throughout the organization by
rolemodeling effective prioritization, delegation
and problem solving. Building a foundation for
these behaviors requires mastery of five (5) core
practices/habits...
Judgment and courage
Stakeholder Engagement
Clear line of sight
Accountability and commitment to the outcome
Engaging the hearts, minds and hands of those need to
take action
MASTERING THE 5 CORE PRACTICES includes learning,
applying and practicing the following skills...
Creating shared accountability in your organization
Facilitating the decision making process to the right person/level and the
right time
Empowering your team to participate and take ownership of their role in
decisions
Removing complexity from your work
Executing smart decisions in difficult situations
Increasing capability in managing and connecting with multiple stakeholders
and prioritizing needs/wants
Engaging and inspiring those who need to implement the decisions by
connecting to what they believe
Improving the quality and speed of strategic and tactical decision making
throughout your organization by role modeling thoughtful choices and
prioritization
“The role of leadership
is to transform the
complex situation
into small pieces and
prioritize them.” |Carlos Ghosn
SessionFour
The Compassion Factor
MODERN LEADERS are challenged daily to be
authentic, to be vulnerable, to be transparent
AND deliver results for all stakeholders.  While
the merits of building the skills and adopting the
behaviors that promote authenticity, vulnerability
and transparency are logical enough—some
would even say common sense—it is in fact hard
to do, and harder still to sustain without the right
mindsets about the role of leadership in the fast-
pace world in which most leaders are asked to
operate.  The compassion factor is the foundation
that allows leaders to effectively cross boundaries,
bust boundaries, transcend boundaries and build
bridges while consistently delivering high impact
results.
THE COMPASSION FACTOR starts with a people first mindset that drives how we interact with our people
by embracing transparency, innocence, humility and vulnerability in our behaviors and knowing how to
apply the right skills and methods at the right time to balance the long and the short term demands of a high
performing organization.
In this segment we explore skills like listening, human centered design principles, constructive debate, and
inquiry/advocacy with fresh eyes in service to building our capability in the following areas...
Crossing cultural, gender, geographic, structural, and professional boundaries to build trust
Breaking up maladaptive practices and counterproductive boundaries that perpetuate silos and hamper innovation.
Helping people leave the safety and confines of their own boundaries and embark on an adventure of discovery—the
discovery of new solutions and opportunities.
Creating a shared sense of purpose and a new definition of team by understanding the human dynamics of our organizations.
“Humility, I have
learned, must never be
confused with meekness.
Humility is being open
to the ideas of others.”
|Simon Sinek
Ongoing
Learning From All Angles
REFLECTION JOURNALS Reflection journals
are notebooks or pieces of paper that we use
when writing about or reflecting on our own
thoughts. The act of reflecting on thoughts, ideas,
feelings, and our own learning encourages the
development of our point of view by helping us
self-evaluate and sort what we know from what
we don’t know. The process of examining our own
beliefs, thoughts and feelings is particularly helpful
when we are learning new concepts or beginning
to grapple with complex issues that go beyond
right and wrong answers...some call this leading in
the gray.
1:1 COACHING One to one coaching will help
personalize your learning and find meaningful
application in your current role and future vision.
BOOK CLUB Leaders must be
readers. Reading and learning from peers within,
and outside of, your industry enables you to grow
as a leader and a person. It keeps you fresh and
relevant and reminds us to always be curious.
“One’s mind, once
stretched by a new
idea, never regains its
original dimensions.”
