Rahul Gandhi in Bihar: NDA and BJP indulge in politics of hate
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi addressed a mega party rally in Bihar’s Aurangabad as part of his campaign for the
upcoming Lok Sabha polls. “Congress believes in a politics of love. We never make people fight against another. Shiv Sena is an
ally of BJP and is in NDA. Who threatens the people from Bihar in Maharashtra? It is Shiv Sena, the BJP ally. But BJP and NDA
come here and make huge promises of Bihar’s development but never talk about the assaults on Bihari people in Maharashtra”
said the Congress leader striking a chord with the large crowd.
“Wherever BJP goes, they incite violence. They make people fight. I had interacted with some Sikh farmers working in Gujarat.
They have been working there since independence but now they face threat of eviction from the Gujarat government. But the
SAD which is a partner of BJP (and NDA) never uttered any word against it” said Rahul Gandhi slamming BJP and NDA.
About future plans of the Congress party, the party leader explained, “In the next ten years, we will generate 10 crore new jobs
for the youth. We know that for development, our youth must get proper education and sufficient jobs. The new dedicated
freight-industrial corridor project initiated by us (Delhi- Mumbai, Mumbai-Chennai and Delhi – Kolkata) will boost the industries
and also will generate lakhs of job”. “We gave people right to job, right to education and right to food. Now we plan to give
them right to health care so that the poor can get free medicines. We will open the doors of hospitals for them. Similarly we will
also provide them with a right to shelter and we also plan pension schemes for the old aged persons” he added.
“We wanted to build a strong base under the feet of the poor. We want to instil a feeling of self reliance inside their minds. We
want to empower the poor. We want their children also get quality education and proper jobs. BJP wants development for only
a selected group. The issues of poor and downtrodden are not at all important for BJP” asserted the Congress Vice President.
“We talk less but act. We never give hollow promises. BJP and NDA are good at marketing and they spend huge amounts for it”
he said in an indirect dig at BJP.
Rahul Gandhi then focussed on issues of women. “50% of our population is women. We always talk about super power. But
India can never be a superpower if we do not empower our women. The women reservation to grant 33% reservation for
women in Parliament and Assemblies are still pending. It is the BJP who opposes it as they never want women empowerment.
But we will pass it like we passed the legislation to grant 50% reservation for women in Panchayats. Similarly our manifesto also
offers about 2000 mahila police stations across the country. We will connect more women with the banks through Self Help
Groups” he said.
2. “We treat everyone equally and we want to work for the welfare of all sections. But BJP talks about only one person and they
think all issues will be solved if that person becomes Prime Minister. We are different from them. We believe in empowering all
our citizens” underlined Rahul Gandhi and sought people’s support for Congress.

Ahead of every general election, the NDA and BJP come out with a new campaign balloon. They had prepared an ‘India Shining’
balloon in 2004. Most of Indian could not understand its meaning. Which part if India was shining, they had wondered. But when
the ballot boxes were opened, BJP came to know that the poor in our country burst that balloon.
Normally filmmakers produce series of a successful movie like ‘Dhoom’. Similarly BJP made yet another series of India Shining in
2009. But they did not understand that that was already a failed one; but they went ahead with it. Again when the election was
over that balloon also was burst.
Now, in 2014 also, BJP and NDA are ready with another new big balloon, called Gujarat Model. BJP says that Gujarat model must
be replicated in all other states. I want to make them understand that Bihar does not need Gujarat model, it needs Bihar model.
There is no problem with this state. What we have to is just to empower its people. I know there are some issues with irrigation
here and I assure you that we will definitely find a solution to it when we come back to power.
Your Chief Minister says that he and his party have left NDA as they can’t agree with its ideology. Fine; but what was his stand
during Gujarat riots? He was Railway minister during NDA. Why he was silent then?
The NDA had promised a lot before coming to power. They had promised education and jobs. But the people have got nothing
as yet.
Whenever we initiate any pro-poor policies, the BJP tried to block it by asking from where we will have funds for it. They raised
the same question when we proposed loan-waiving scheme worth 70,000 cr for our poor farmers. They said it was wastage of
money. Helping farmers is never wastage of funds for Congress. We were determined and showed them how to make funds for
it. We also opened the doors of the banks for them.
We then had fought for the farmers’ rights in their lands at Bhatta-Parsaul and similar places. The farmers had just asked one
thing, if rich people can get adequate market prices for their lands, then why can’t the farmers? We took up their matter and
fought for their rights. The revised Land Acquisition Law enacted by the UPA Government is its outcome. Now no one can grab
any farmer’s land forcibly. Further, this new revised bill ensures four-times more market prices for the land acquired. Then also
BJP had tried to block our move and the Bill kept pending in Parliament for long 2 years. They again commented that it is
wastage of funds. Whenever we make any laws for the poor it is wastage for BJP but if we do something for the rich, it is okay
for them.
3. The Right to Information (RTI) ensured transparency in government administration. Any citizen is now legally entitled to gather
any information regarding government functioning. The decision which used to be taken earlier behind closed doors, have now
in public domain. Lots of corruption cases came out after the implementation of RTI. It was Congress, which brought Lokpal but
there is no Lokayukta in many BJP ruled states. Only Chief Ministers have full authority in BJP ruled states.
But Congress wants people to have power. That is why we implemented Panchayati raj and gave 50% reservation for women in
local bodies. Now we want 33% reservation for women in Parliament and Vidhan Sabhas. We do not want a single chowkeedar
(watchman) but we want every Indian to be a watchman of our country.
Congress believes in a politics of love. We never make people fight against another. Shiv Sena is a ally of BJP and is in NDA. Who
threatens the people from Bihar in Maharashtra? It is Shiv Sena, the BJP ally. But BJP and NDA come here and make huge
promises of Bihar’s development but never talk about the assaults on Bihari people in Maharashtra.
Wherever BJP goes, they incite violence. They make people fight. I had interacted with some Sikh farmers working in Gujarat.
They have been working there since independence but now they face threat of eviction from the Gujarat government. But the
SAD which is a partner of BJP (and NDA) never uttered any word against it.
BJP talks a lot about corruption. But they join hands with former Karnataka CM Yeddyrappa again. He had gone to jail on
corruption charges. The corruption in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh is not visible for BJP. Our party state president was
murdered by the mining mafia in Chhattisgarh. There are three convicted ministers, who had gone to jail for corruption, are still
in Gujarat cabinet.
In the next ten years, we will generate 10 crore new jobs for the youth. We know that for development, our youth must get
proper education and sufficient jobs. The new dedicated freight-industrial corridor project initiated by us (Delhi- Mumbai,
Mumbai-Chennai and Delhi – Kolkata) will boost the industries and also will generate lakhs of jobs.
We talk less but act. We never give hollow promises. BJP and NDA are good at marketing and they spend huge amounts for it.

want to empower the poor. We want their children also get quality education and proper jobs. BJP wants development for only
a selected group. The issues of poor and downtrodden are not at all important for BJP.
We could lift 15 crore people from poverty, which is five times more than NDA period. Now a new class has been emerged,
above BPL but below the middle class category. About 70 cr people are there in that new group which consists of rickshaw
4. pullers, electricians, artisans, coolies and security guards. We want to focus on their issues and bring them to middle class by
reforming education and health sectors, in the next five years.
50% of our population is women. We always talk about super power. But India can never be a superpower if we do not
empower our women. The women reservation to grant 33% reservation for women in Parliament and Assemblies are still

Bihar got only promises but there is no development. We will together work for Bihar’s progress.
Thank you.
