Its contribution to Singapore
Marina Bay – Garden City by the Bay
provides an opportunity tip of Singapore, Marina Bay is
Located at the Southernfor further urban transformation,a 360ha
attracting new investments, visitors and talent, as well as
development designed to seamlessly extend Singapore's
downtown a new destination for the local community. continuing
becoming district and further support the city-state's
growth as a major business and financial hub in Asia.
The Planning of the Marina Bay
The Marina Bay is reclaimed from the sea from the 1970s to
provide room for the long-term expansion of the city, Marina Bay
is planned to seamlessly extend from the existing Central
Business District (CBD) at Raffles Place. This long-term approach
to planning allowed Singapore the unique competitive advantage
of developing Marina Bay as a new growth area adjacent to the
existing city centre.

This shows the foresight of our Government, proving that our
Government is one that 'Anticipate Change and Stay Relevant'. By
being able to foresee that Singapore is going to develope more, the
government have reclaimed land for further development of Singapore.
The Central
Business District
(CBD)
Singapore's Central Business District
comprises the core of Singapore's
financial activities and thus includes
many important and significant
financial buildings. There are many
skyscrapers in the Central Business
District. Skyscrapers in the city include
the relatively new ones such as the
UOB building and the Sail at Marina
Bay, as well as the older but still well
maintained and used buildings such as
the Swissôtel The Stamford, which
once held the title as the world's
tallest hotel.
The Central
Business District
(CBD)
The CBD is very much rooted to the cultural
traditions of the Chinese. Some examples are
the Chinese geomancy or Feng Shui. We can
see that many buildings in the CBD are
actually designed according to this Chinese
belief. The Furama City Hotel, for example,
has a roofline which resembles the open
palm of the hand to ward off evil. The
‘Fountain of Wealth’ at the Suntec Tower has
the inward flowing water at the fountain for
two reasons. Water is the symbol of life and
wealth in Chinese culture and the inward
motion of the water signifies the retention of
wealth for Suntec City.
It also possesses some important cultural
sites. Historical shophouses with their
original façades preserved can be found
along streets like Club and Ann Siang Streets.

This shows that the area is also a heart of
Singapore's history. It allows people to
remember what life use to be so they will be
more appreciative to the Singapore now.
Marina Bay Sands
Marina Bay Sands is an integrated
resort fronting Marina Bay in
Singapore. It was developed by the
Las Vegas Sands and it was a
investment that promotes
investments. Invested by Las
Vegas Sands, the MBS allows
more foreign investors to look upon
Singapore and invest. For example,
the shopping mall
at Marina Bay Sands has many
foreign brands like Chanel, Prada
and many more.

This also shows the foresight of our
govenment. They built the
Intergrated Resort knowing that
Tourism has always been an
important component of
Singapore's economy. By building
the resort, it has brought in
investments and tourism, boosting
our economy.
Open spaces
Marina Bay is planned with
greenery all around – from the
outdoors to tree-lined pedestrian
malls, city rooms, sky terraces and
roof gardens.
Besides setting aside land for parks
and gardens, specific attention was
also paid to the ambience and
value of individual developments. A
landscape master plan has
envisioned Marina Bay to be filled
with lush landscaping, with each
district characterised by a different
natural theme based around the
colours of gold, pink and green,
creating a multi-coloured, multi-
sensory garden environment for all
to enjoy.
 These urban, public open spaces
have become venues for events,
activities and performances, or
simply a pleasant spot for lunch.

Open spaces
To help relieve the stressful and
face-paced life in Singapore, the
space is provided for everyone to
have recreational activities like
flying kites or even having a picnic.

This shows that our government
also cares about the welfare and
the healthy lifestyle of
Singaporeans.
All in all, they contribute to
the great developement of
Singapore and is still
continuing to develop to
make Singapore an even
better place to stay in.
