EMPLOYMENT
1990-2005: Georgia Pacific Corporation, Rincon, Georgia as an hourly production
employee for approximately 16 years
2005-2012: as an hourly Departmental Safety Coordinator; a position which was created to
work under direction of our salaried Safety Management Team. My department consists of
approximately 600 employees as well as approximately 400 pieces of converting
equipment.
Safety Coordinator/Trainer for the Converting Department
• Responsible for all aspects of departmental safety as well as training; training
all new hires and transfers coming into my department.
• Developed and implemented a very concise training and development process
for our new hires and current employees.
• Instrumental in the development and implementation of the HIRA (Hazard
Identification and Risk Assessment) process in the Converting Department. I
received training from Jacobs Engineering and RL Consulting (Control Systems
Integration).
• Written, revised, and reviewed departmental Job Hazard Analysis (JHA),
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and various certification documents.

1967-1970 Military Service, United States Army
• Enlisted in the U.S. Army completing Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, South
Carolina.
• Completed Advance Training at Ft. Lee Virginia as an Armorer specialist,
maintaining and repairing of military small arms weapons.
• Prior to deployment to the Republic of Vietnam, I completed jungle warfare
training at Ft. Benning, Georgia.
• I was assigned and served with Headquarters Battery, 6th Battalion, 14th
Artillery, 52nd Artillery Group in Pleiku, Vietnam located in the Central
Highlands.
• My unit participated in combat operations during the 1968 and 1969 TET
Offensives in Kontum, Dakto, and Ben Het. Before leaving the Republic of
Vietnam after one year of service, my unit was a participant in the Battle of
Ben Het.
• I was awarded various medals, Unit and Presidential Citations, Vietnam Cross
of Gallantry, and numerous letters of commendation from superior officers.
• I volunteered and participated in many jungle “search and destroy” missions
and convoys traveling in and around enemy-infested areas.
• Upon arrival back in the United States, I served for one year as a training NCO,
preparing trainees for possible duty in the Republic of Vietnam.
I completed my duty with the military at Ft. Eustis, Virginia.
